Richard | 7 comments Hello smart people,

For the past five years, you have entertained me with your razor-sharp wit and sometimes absurd discussions on the SDMB. As a long-time lurker, I soon realised that participation in your chicanery would have been akin to entering the field of play naked during a professional football match. In short, I lacked the padding and feared the hard tackles I would inevitably have to endure.

Having found you here, in this more genteel setting, I would like to take the opportunity to compliment you all on helping to maintain my faith in humanity in a world where stupidity often seems to reign supreme.

I hope some of you will do me the honour of reading my book. If so, I am prepared to accept whatever chastisement you feel I deserve.

Thanks and best wishes,

Richard

Dani (kakwik) | 48 comments I read that as "I bring you kudus" and got all excited.

I'm not very entertaining & lack in both razor-sharp wit and absurdity (at least online) BUT I did like the sound of your book so I will be keeping my eye open for it.

Richard | 7 comments You'll be glad to hear that there's an intriguing factoid about kudus in my book, which is set for online release in Canada this April

By the bye - as a book-loving Canadian, which site is more popular: Amazon.ca or this Indigo.Chapters thingy?

Dani (kakwik) | 48 comments I'd say Indigo/Chapters. My experiences with Amazon.ca aren't very positive.

Richard | 7 comments Excellent. Thanks.

Anne And I prefer Amazon.ca, I loathe Indigo.

Richard | 7 comments Since April 1, I have harboured a deep-seated hatred for both. Neither of them apparently took the trouble to locate a distributor for my book. It's Monty Python's cheese emporium all over again.
Dejectedly,
R.

Dani (kakwik) | 48 comments Once Chapters & Indigo merged, they became the dominant bookseller in Canada.

Some individual stores survived (Munro's in Victoria is amazing) but I don't know if they can help you.
