Here are your November 2020 Mini Challenges!

RULES

** Books DO NOT all have to be mysteries. You can use any genres.

** A book can be used only once for this challenge, but can be used for other challenges (Seasonal, World Trip, Ultimate, etc.).

** You DO NOT have to choose books in advance, and can change your mind at any time if you do.

** Do as many as you are able and have fun!

1. November 1 is All Saint’s Day and Dios Los Muertos (Day of the Dead):
Read a book that features a cemetery, crypt, gravestone, graveyard, or tomb on the cover or as part of the story.

2. November 3 is the US General Election. I know most of you are probably as tired of hearing about it as I am, nonetheless: Read a book involving an elected official, be it local or national. Examples: assemblyman, congressman, county clerk, county executive, district attorney, board of education, governor, legislator, mayor, president, PTA board, selectmen, senator, sheriff, State Supreme Court, treasurer, etc..

3. November 6 is Marooned Without a Compass Day: Read a book set somewhere you’d like to visit (and tell us where).

4. November is National Caregivers Appreciation Month, as well as National Diabetes and National Epilepsy Month:. Read a book involving a medical professional (Doctor, EMT, Nurse, Surgeon, etc.).

5. November 23 is National Espresso Day:. Read a book with coffee on the cover or in the title, or that features it as part of the story.

Thanks, guys! I spent more time making my Christmas cards and addressing envelopes last week than I did reading. I may have them all ready to go out by a Thanksgiving. 😮 I did start to listen to a Christmas book I found on YouTube, a collection of four novellas, but I got halfway through (first two stories) and discovered they only uploaded half the book. Who does that?? I was able to get the ebook online with a credit, but though I received confirmation, and it’s showing up online in my digital library, it’s not downloading to my device. Technology! I know I can read it on my phone, but I find that harder on my eyes than reading on the Nook or Kindle. Meanwhile, I’ve started another double challenge book.

Congrats, Linda and Jonquil!

Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating today. I saw three dozen wild turkeys up at the park while walking this afternoon. Love seeing those free-range neighborhood birds! 😀

Brenda and Meg — Yes, I was reading from about 11 pm until 5 am. Not intentionally. Initially, I wanted to get to within one hundred from the end and finish it today. I got caught up in the action, though, and couldn’t put it down. 😐

Okay, I'll probably regret asking this, but...which book was it? It says a lot when it grabs you and won't let go.

Meg— The President Is Missing by Clinton/Patterson. I mentioned a little bit about it in the “When you’re not reading a cozy” discussion.

Brenda— I am feeling tired now. Game ended after 10:30, am watching delayed local news to catch the weather before heading to bed. We’ve had a cold front move in and the wind has really risen the last couple hours— I can hear it gusting. (Shivers)

Julesy | 1412 comments Congratulations to all finishers!

I'm going to call it a day, having finished 3 books. I'm on my 4th book, but I won't finish it in time because I'm buddy reading it with a friend and she told me she won't be able to start the book for at least another week. So, I'm reading it slowly and making other books a priority. See message #4.

I hate the wind too - we've had some storms lately with strong winds which have knocked down trees and taken off roofs. Sleep well :)
