TAG DETAILS
In full disclosure, I am borrowing this one from the 2020 Popsugar Ultimate Reading Challenge. The objective is to close your eyes and read the first book you touch.
* If you are able to visit the library or bookstore—or have your own physical TBR pile—go to the genre section you want, close your eyes, and choose a book.
* If you choose a book that is part of a series, you may read the first book in that series, or the next book up for you in that series.
* For those with E-readers, there are alternative ways of randomly selecting a book. One is by using an online random number generator and reading the corresponding book number on your shelf. Use your GR shelf if that makes it easier. This may require you to know how many books are on your “to read” shelf or a particular genre/author shelf.
* Get a friend or family member to help. If you know you have 156 books on a shelf, ask someone to pick a number between 1 and 156. Or you could close your eyes and scroll the page(s), then stab at the screen and read whatever you land on.
* Another idea, if you have a short stack of library books to read, is to write each title on a slip of paper and have someone pick one out of a bowl.
* Since the idea is to blindly chose a book, you may also use “mystery” books — also called “blind date with a book” — in which some booksellers or librarians wrap up a bunch of books, placing only vague descriptions of a book on the outside.
* Remember that this isn’t meant to be difficult, it’s all in good fun!
Now go run around outside!
