He's a coward with a vague sense of duty.

I can definitely agree with you somewhat. Characters are always remarking how much of an awesome young man he is, but I don't see it. For the most part he acts selfishly, avoiding having to make any hard decisions. He just goes with the flow, willfully keeping his head buried ind the sand, waiting for someone else to yank it out for him.
Overall though, I don't completely dislike him. As long as he does some quick growing up early on in the next book, he could be a much more interesting character.

*Spoilers* that actually was the last line in the book. Characters like Camlin, Veradis, even Vonn and Nathair in the beginning took much more risks with less at stake. Corban is just a pampered Pleb and expects to be saved from every situation.
I swear next time he'd probably want Edana or Coralen to jump in front a killing blow to save him only so that he could scream, cry and run away after. Maybe Cywin dies in the third book so that he can finally decide to consider fighting Asroth. Really because so far he only seems to want revenge on Nathair for killing his father, who died like an idiot, trying to save a dead body. smh. Who writes these things? ;_;???
It's not at all believable that anyone would follow him into battle, knowing they're risking death "Leonaides he is not." And that's the problem, the author has characters saying, "There's something about you Corban, you're so good, I want to follow you." And yet I don't see it. the last admirable thing he did was saving Storm. They should call him Dun Star. He's the Biggest character disappointment since Kaladin's wretch and the red knight.
I should really stop reading sequels.
