Summer is here, and we're starting it off with Let's Call It a Doomsday by Katie Henry!

Let's Call it a Doomsday is Henry's sophomore novel, following her debut Heretics Anonymous. The book is a contemporary fiction that focuses on mental health--particularly severe anxiety--and preparations for the end of the world.

Have you read the author's previous novel? What are your thoughts on this book?

Christine | 142 comments I have not read Heretics Anonymous yet, but both of Katie Henry's books are on my TBR list. I know not to judge a book by its cover, but I am not loving the canned tomato cover of Let's Call It a Doomsday. I hope the book gets a cuter cover when it comes out on paperback in August. I am not usually interested in reading apocalyptic books.

However, I am excited to read this book because the main character is Mormon! Even though there are quite a few YA authors who are Latter-day Saints, the only other YA book about Mormon faith that I've read is Autoboyography. I like reading books with characters from various religious faiths and hope Mormonism is accurately portrayed in this book. I also heard that this book has characters who are LGBTQ+, which makes me want to read the book even more!

Kristen | 166 comments I have not read Heretics Anonymous, and I don't know if I will. It and this book are ones that I would not have picked for myself. Here's to hoping that I liked it!

Christine, I agree that the cover isn't really that intriguing for me. I don't think that it's very eye-catching. I will fully admit to being swayed by pretty covers, so I feel like it's a bit of a letdown if one is on the boring side.
