My state got it's first [afaik:] guide to beers and breweries in Texas. Any recommendations for your state?

Richard Gombert (rgombert) | 4 comments Searching GoodReads I found thei: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22... . I have not read it so I can not recommend it.
But maybe I'll write my own (I'm trying to visit all the breweries and micro-breweries in Ohio).

Pub.1999 -it's definitely out of date. :>

The book I posted -though two years old, is now out of date due to a huge growth spurt. The authors are thinking of waiting another year to let other breweries/brewpubs open up and their publisher to get rid of back-stock.

Due to Texas laws and the way BJ's operates, they contract St.A to brew the beer for their TX,OK & LA locations.

Right, a question for you beer loving Americans, you can homebrew? It's not against some crazy, mixed up U.S law? Just thought I'd ask, then I could feel smug while I drank a cold Aussie homebrew, if you said no.

1978 was the year home brewing was made legal again in the U.S.
That has helped improve the quality of beer here, fueling the current craft beer growth. The number of breweries are supposedly up to pre-Prohibition levels -a healthy sign.

A very good sign. :)

Yes, but laws regarding home brewing vary according to the state you are in. There was a recent case in Alabama where a home brew store was raided and their supplies seized by the state. It caused quite an uproar in the home brewing community.

I took it up as a hobby this year and find it quite enjoyable (and tasty). Each batch has gotten better as I learn from my mistakes.

True -some states still have a ways to go. That raid in Alabama is an embarassment for citizens of that state.
