I read this book in my early 20's and it was quite different from books I had read up to that point. Very different from her other works.
Sorry, not for me this month - not really in the mood for something written so long ago (which I generally struggle with anyway) and it's the third of a series (generally prefer to at least have read #1 before reading out of order if necessary). Maybe next time, hope the rest of you enjoy!

Hi Adelyne, no worries, join in whenever you wish : )The L-Shaped Room published in 1960, can be read as a standalone book. 'The Backward Shadow' ( 1970 ) was published next and then 'Two is Lonely' published in 1974 completes the trilogy.
I have ordered this from the library, it seems to be taking a while though, I ordered it ages ago as it was a book that had been on my list for a while now. Hopefully it will turn up soon.

I have just finished this book, 2 stars. Almost 30 Jane is everything I have an abhorrence of in women, mainly because at 60 70 and maybe 80 Jane will still be unable to make decisions for herself leaving it up to others to flap around her. Being a successful readin the 60's is not an indicator for life now. I will post a review on the Aussies Readers board.

This month we will be reading The L-Shaped Room, which was published in 1960 and an instant best seller. It was adapted to film in 1962 starring Leslie Caron and Tom Bell. Who will be joining me this month ?
Best wishes and happy reading
