.....To publish traditionally, or self-publish?

With my new historical fiction I was tempted to begin the process of going after lit. agents, but then I recalled an article I read not long ago that estimated it can take between 2-7 years for a book to hit the shelves if a writer takes that road.

To be honest, at my age, I didn't feel I could afford waiting around that long, hence my decision to self-publish .... again. I wish I had begun writing decades ago. Ho-hum.
