the_rabid_snail | 177 comments Do all humans work at some kind of craft, or are there any human slaves whose jobs are just to attend/serve faeries?

message 3: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
Okay so it depends on the court, in the Spring and Summer lands human slaves are outlawed(But some fae still keep some), but in the Winter and Autumn courts it's open

the_rabid_snail | 177 comments Okay, cool. Thank you!

the_rabid_snail | 177 comments For positions like the Harbinger of Autumn and the various masters of the hunt from the different courts, have those positions been held by the same people since the formation of the courts or since the creations of the positions? Or have they been held by a few or several different people at different times? If so, is it a position that is inherited (meaning if the last Harbinger of Autumn died, the next one would be the previous one's child or other relative) or is it appointed by the prince regardless of any relatives or children of the last title holder?
Sorry if that was a lot of questions :)

message 6: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
Okay it depends on how you've made the character's history if you want to you character to have been appointed at the beginning of the courts go ahead. If you want to make your character take over for an older fae who once had the position that is also possible. The title is given by the prince to whoever he wants to have said position, usually in return for some service rendered.

the_rabid_snail | 177 comments Alright, cool. I haven't set my character's history yet or anything; I wanted to ask first just in case.
I also had one more question, if you don't mind. Are there any specific responsibilities of the Harbinger of Autumn that I should know?

message 8: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (last edited Apr 13, 2020 03:45PM) (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
He or she is mostly is just the prince's lackey. Carrying out the princes dirty work or just taking care of what the prince doesn't have time to deal with

the_rabid_snail | 177 comments Awesome, thanks!

message 10: by FJO (new)

FJO I propose we add the ruins of the Queen's castle. Since they are not located in any court nor related to one, this would have as consequence some sort of neutral ground.

Hm, I'm thinking on making another character, even if I really don't have the time to. I'm starting one who is a musician, though I'm currently a little stuck. Any suggestions on which court may appreciate music a little more?

message 12: by FJO (new)

FJO Spring or summer seem the most fitting to me

I would say spring, they're some of the fae that value the arts the most out of all the other courts

@FJO
There is already a "ruin" of the Queens estate in the winter court here, I like to keep a lot of what is in the world mysterious so as everyone can more or less guess at what it really is.

KT (queenlykt) | 47 comments How 'normal' is the fae world? Like I assume no technology, fantasy setting type but like. Is there a school system? A police system, which I assume would be classified as guards here?

message 18: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (last edited Nov 09, 2020 08:27AM) (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
So mostly no, there isn't a public school system technically. The fae have boarding school system where humans will send their children to "fae" schools, though technically the teachers are still humans. Both fae and humans are enrolled there. So many human parents and fae parents don't want to send their kids there. The education of the fae and humans are overseen by the fae lords or ladies so that the human teachers keep to a specific guidelines.

As for the police system it will vary between courts but the fae don't exactly have one. Each court of course has guards but they aren't a police force, and are only really present at their princes home as to provide some protection. I know that for the spring court they rely only on the princes power to keep anyone from stepping out of line, with no real police force save for the limited amount of guards. Though of course, the wild huntsmen are used every now and then as a stand in police force. I kinda rambled on here but I hope this helps lol.

Nathan | 2 comments I love this role play kind of stuff, and I've had a really good one on this group before, but I'm gonna be honest: I'm not sure I can be very active on here all the time. I have full time school and work. Is it alright if I'm only on here every once in a while or should I be here every day?

message 20: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (last edited Apr 25, 2020 11:22AM) (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
You can be as active as you have time for, this group is pretty relaxed. Just follow our rp guidelines and the plot, everything else is up to you.

What do the Underwater Fae look like exactly?

message 24: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
Much like most other fae, there faerie imperfection should be some what water themed though. I don't have any specific model so it's fully up to you what your oc looks like.

I'm curious about the characters from the Onyx Isles. I don't know if I want to make another claim right now, but would I be able to ask for some basic info on them for future reference?

message 27: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
yes of course, what you you like to know?

I generally want to better understand how they fit into the world. I'll break this into a few parts so it isn't one huge blob...

1) From what I understand they are, by one means or another, related to the former Queen of the Fae. What were their roles when she was still alive?

2) How do they compare to the Princes in regards to power and/or influence? The impression I got from the little tidbit at the end was that they were more powerful.

3) Are they independent or do they each have their own followings in the Onyx Isles similar to how the Princes have followings within their own courts?

4) Are there any particular powers or major details associated with each of the different titles? Or do they have typical fae abilities just amped up to unusually high levels? Or is it just up to the interpretation of the claimant?

message 29: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
Okay I'll see what I can answer without giving to much away :)

1) They are all related to her in one way or another but family means very little to Fae, they care more about the insult the princes brought to their family by killing the Fae Queen than the actual fact that they killed her. They had little to nothing to do with her after she left their Isle. They rarely leave their hidden sanctuaries, so when the Queen left the isles she was more or less dead to them.

2)That's an unkown, no one in recent memory has even seen them. The Princes certainly fear them for they might be the only one living that really remember the power of the ancients. However the Princes hold great power within their own domains. So I can't really answer this question.

3) In recent times no, they are solitary fae preferring their own company to that of any other. This in addition to the inhospitably of the Onyx Isles would prevent any sort of following.

4) Like the princes they are old fae, of a different breed. They would posses certain powers unlike any others in the world, forgotten by the younger fae.

message 31: by Adeline (new)

Adeline | 30 comments I've got a couple of questions:

1) What time period is this set in? What kind of technology do they have, and what are we allowed to reference and talk about?

2) Does the Craft hurt fae in this world?

3a) Are there other countries?

3b) [If yes to 3a] Are the various folklore/myths from other countries also true, or do only fae exist? Are faeries a uniquely European phenomenon, or do they exist all over the world?

3c) [If yes to 3b] How do the fae interact with other mythical creatures? How are their relations?

4) Do the faerie lands exist in some alternate dimensions or are they real, physical places on earth a few minutes drive/wagon/walk from some random place?

message 32: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
1) Nothing modern, a more graceful medieval age with touches of a renaissance type period in the architecture and art. Imagine the dark ages if they weren't dark.

2) Yes the making of craft strips away everything that makes them fae, this makes it all the more valuable to them. It is one of the only things out of their reach and so they always strive to accumulate the most valuable of craft.

3a) Yes, Fae kingdoms litter the world. Small places where powerful fae have carved out a chunk of the world for themselves. Most of these 'Lesser Courts" do acknowledge a greater power in the "Four Greater Courts" tying themselves in one way or another to one of the four princes. There are the few outliers that attempt to remain separate the most notable of these being the Under Sea. Most of these courts fizzle out or burn to brightly and explode.

3b) Depends on the folklore, I'd need something a little more specific to answer that fully but to a point yes. However all types of mythical creature usually end up being a kind of fae, no matter how unique. This little world I've created is not really a copy of Earth so this isn't specifically European. Throughout my creation you'll find Fae, so definitely a worldwide species. However outside of the Courts you'll find very few humans. The courts are like the eye of a hurricane, the lands around the courts are constantly in turmoil, the mind changing to echo the thoughts of whatever powerful fea happens to be passing by. An utterly inhospitable place for humans to make homes.

3c) The High Fae and the Ancient Fae consider themselves to be utterly superior to everything else. So Fae relations with others end up being one sided.

4c) alternate dimension, though somethings humans can cross random pathways into my little world, none can ever return home.

message 33: by Adeline (new)

Adeline | 30 comments Ooh, interesting.

A few follow ups-

regarding Q2: The Autumn prince has no problem with writing, and that is somewhat a 'Craft', so would it be alright for a faerie to perform some degree of it, even if they are not as good as human artisans? I have an idea for a character that I want to create should my request for the Lord of the Northern Isles be denied.

regarding Q3: I was inquiring more of human countries. Istoire comes from a country (China, basically), and there are certain creatures from that mythology that don't fit with the traditional 'fae' type creature. A lot of 'gui', the most common type of folklore creature, result from people dying in specific circumstances or people with unfinished vengeful business. They also have the ability to lie and create art pieces should they wish to.

Q2) Said fea would find themselves in constant pain and discomfort as the act of creating craft would slowly strip them of everything that makes them immortal. The very act of creating would permanently take something from them. Why I've allowed the Autumn Prince to write is that it's on the border of what could be considered a craft. He is one of the oldest fae in my world, with that age comes a great amount of power which allows him to push the boundaries of what he is doing with his writing. For your character idea, the degree to which they can create craft must be very limited with the the more beautiful or intricate the craft the more it takes away from them. Each piece they create would house a fragment of their soul.

Q3) No countries are governed by humans in this place. Though there might be small human communities that are hidden away from the fae if you would so desire. Your "gui" as it sounds like a vengeful spirit should be perfectly fine since that certainty doesn't compromise anything I've created.

message 35: by Adeline (new)

Adeline | 30 comments Every piece they create takes away a piece of them you say... ohohohohoho-

Last thing, any specific traits or details I should keep in mind when I make the Lord of the Northern Isles?

message 36: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
Well I just have some basics for said character, ancient fae one of the oldest that still walks the world, some say he's even older than the princes. An ancient remnant of a long forgotten fae kingdom he would remember things that no other would. I had more on him a while ago but unfortunately I have lost the document so feel free to let your imagination proceed unimpeded by me. I do appreciate your interest in my group, always nice to see :)

Adeline | 30 comments Since there's a plot to this whole roleplay, will certain characters end up inevitably dead?

message 39: by Crow, Gogo The Prince (new)

Crow | 492 comments Mod
yes, I won't force any deaths on people but many of the characters already created will end up tragically dying :)
