Ms. Lyons AP English discussion

In “The Kite Runner” both the narrator and his friend Hassan lost their mothers. The narrator lost his mother when she was giving birth and Hassan’s mother ran off. Before I read the book I pictured a more siren book where the characters live a perfect life. I thought this because when I think of kites I think of three best weather and kids smiling and laughing but this story gives the impression so far that it’ll be a little depressing.

Wow that was not at all what u thought the kite runner would be about. I do agree with you on how you thought the book was going to be about because when you think of a kite you think of freedom etc.

Since both of them lost their mothers....is their lifestyle similar or different because of how they both don’t have their mothers in their lives and probably don’t have the same support system ?
