I enjoyed reading the Great Alone, but I became frustrated towards the end of the book. I felt like the author pressed fast forward and wrote an ending that didn't feel like the rest of the story. I've read comments about this in one star reviews, but I was wondering how others who enjoyed the story may have felt about the ending.

Did you feel like the ending fit with the rest of the book? Why do you think the author chose to cover so much time in so few pages?

It really did feel like she was under a deadline and just wanted to wrap everything up. I was disappointed because up until then, the story had been very immersive for me.

Varrick Nunez | 4 comments The issue of Matthew's accident was an interesting twist, definitely not the normal "happily-ever-after" ending.

Hannah could have been more descriptive throughout. I like stories that detail what life is like on the edge, how people work things out, solving problems of life. There was certainly some of that and I appreciated it but I wanted more. From the author's notes in the back it seems she's writing from some experience.

I think I will read some of her other work, I haven't read "Nightingale" yet & that was pretty well regarded.
