I just noticed it was published in Nov of 2019. That's too recent.

And if it helps I remember that them cleaning a wall in detention played an important role in the plot, that's where their relationship develops.

I found it ! Some of the details I wrote in here were wrong though. The language is German and the story is set in Hamburg in Germany.
