Hi everyone!

It's time to announce the first book pick! We're reading Average Is the New Awesome by Samantha Matt.

"Sure, some of our peers go on to become astronauts or billionaires. But most of us don't. In Average Is the New Awesome, Samantha Matt offers encouragement to us regular humans." -- from the description

I must have underlined half of this book! I nodded along, laughed out loud, and will reread. It left me feeling like I really am actually doing pretty OK in life. It’s funny, honest, sooo relatable on many levels, and written in a fun, witty tone. There’s a whole section on “how to cancel plans last minute without being an asshole." Need I say more?

Can't wait to read along with you. We'll start discussing in 2 weeks, on March 31st, so you do have a little time to get the book and start reading it (and during these times of self-quarantine, it's the perfect time to read more).

MARCH 31st – Discuss intro and chapter 1 (pages xi–41)
APRIL 7th – Discuss chapter 2 (pages 43–95)
APRIL 14th – Discuss chapter 3–4 (pages 97–173)
APRIL 21st – Discuss chapter 5–6 and conclusion (pages 175–215)

Please note: The author discusses her experience with an eating disorder in chapter 3. Some readers may want to skip this chapter. As always, health is our priority, and we encourage you to make the best decision for your mental health.
