I’ve evaluated my tbr commitments and this one is another no for me right now. I just need to keep a close tab on future BRs, so I can plan.

I really wanted to love this...her parents were POS...and society, in general, treated her like trash because of who she fell in love with...and he was a nice guy! he wasn't some douchebag! gah! it makes me sick to know this kind of behaviour still goes on today...

I finished it last night. I have to agree with your spoiler, (view spoiler)[I think bringing Davis into the storyline only to kill him was unnecessary drama when the girl had already been through so much. I either wanted her to marry Davis and have her and Isaiah meet up later both happily married to others but for Gracie's benefit OR her and Isaiah get back together cleanly with no other drama...killing Davis off ruined something for me...I don't know it just felt very wrong. (hide spoiler)]

And yes, it's sad to think about the level of racism that was still prevalent during that time period. Simply disgusting. And her parents selfishness...unbelievable...

Wasn’t quite to the extent of Carnage as far as unhappy endings but it was unnecessary drama IMO

I’m still reading it, but I can understand why Ela. DNF.
It’s a bit boring and slow.
I’m struggling to finish. But I will finish. It’s amazing when it’s a good book how fast you get through it.
