Wired by Julie Garwood Wired

A beautiful computer genius and a bad-boy FBI agent must collaborate—in more ways than one—in the sexy, suspenseful new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

Allison Trent has always had a special talent for computers. When she’s not cleaning up after her troublemaker younger brother, Jason, she spends her days writing code and navigating the intricacies of the Internet. In fact, she’s working on a new program that will revolutionize the tech industry, and when she attends a prominent seminar, word begins to spread.

FBI agent Liam Scott discovers how brilliant Allison is and wants her to help hunt down a cyber criminal he’s been after for two years. He invites her to tour the bureau’s state-of-the-art cybercenter in Boston. Once she arrives, he thinks he can convince her to join the team.

But Allison doesn’t want to work for the government—until Liam makes an offer she can’t refuse: work for the FBI for one year, and they will expunge Jason’s illustrious criminal record.

Allison tries to deny her growing attraction to Liam, but just before her year in the FBI is over, she discovers someone has stolen the computer program she developed. Now she needs Liam’s help in tracking down the thief. And as they begin to close in on the culprit, they also begin to give in to each other...

Me, three! ☺

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I have it on my list of new releases for next year. Now I just need a new calendar to put them on.

I got my calendar; I just need to get it organized.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I just found out that Wired is not going to be released until July 26, 2016!! Anyone know why?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) No, I haven't seen anything that explains why but :( I hate to hear it!

Kirsten (kmcripn) Maybe it's a typo?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Amazon shows 2017 :(

Kirsten (kmcripn) I don't know. My library shows that their copy has a date of 7/28/15.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Hmmm, I will look for it.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I am on my library e-book hold list. The holds list still shows Wired as a "Pre-Release Title". I really hope that nothing serious has happened. I also hope that Julie Garwood doesn't fall into limbo like Judith McNaught did.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments It is time for all the fans of Julie Garwood to rise up and tell Dutton/Penguin that you are very angry about the delay in the publication of Wired. If they don't get some angry push back they will do this again to some other author. Please join me and tell them how you really feel.

First of all- Thanks to everyone who has kept the paperback of FAST TRACK on the New York Times Bestseller List. I’m so glad you like it.
Second- I need to clear up some confusion about the release of my next book, WIRED. I know there are still sites that show it’s coming out this year, but they are incorrect. Initially it was planned for this year; however, the story took much longer to get the way I wanted, so, in order to give me more time with it, the publishers moved it in their schedule. I don’t have a new release date yet, but hopefully it will be sometime next year. As soon as I know the new date, I’ll let you know.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Thanks for posting, Tammy!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments With Wired scheduled for publication by Berkley Publishing on August 9, 2016, I've been haunting NetGalley for the ARC. Nothing up yet and that concerns me. There are ARC's up from Berkley for books due out in September and October. I've got a real bad feeling about this.

Hmmmmm... you could be right, Anita.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments They just lost Nora Roberts. It makes no sense at all why they are mucking with Julie Garwood too. But, looking at their offerings in ARC's, I only found 3 I wanted to request. They has a lot of cozies and urban, new adult offerings, some historicals. I hate to think it but it seems that the publisher just doesn't care about fans of a certain age and favorite genre.

Really?! Whoa.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I just checked the Penguin site and Wired is not on the publication schedule at all. Period. Not there. I checked all the way from May, 2016 through January, 2017. Nothing.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I was looking for who her publisher is and clicked on Wired. The Goodreads Wired page now states the release date as Jan. 1, 2030. What is going on? A reader posted the following in the Q&A section:

Ben: I emailed Julie Garwood and this is the answer she provided (6/21/16):
"I'm very sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, an unexpected health issue interrupted my writing for a while so we had to postpone WIRED. I don't have a new release date for it yet, but when I get one I'll post it on my website."

Kirsten (kmcripn) I think she's being hopeful that she'll still be with us in 2030. That being said, I wish her well.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments It is really sad when any much loved author had to stop writing, for what ever reason. Some of my favorites that have are Laurie McBain, Tara Janzen, Judith McNaught and now Julie Garwood. My prayers are with her at this time too.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I'd like to add Jennifer Crusie. She hasn't written a book in a while.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments Yes, Jennifer Crusie too. I feel the loss of each of these authors each time I try a new NetGalley book and it just doesn't measure up.

Very true, Anita.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I checked the date again and it's now set for release December 5, 2016. I really hope that date stands.

message 36: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I didn't realize but I have had that book on hold for over a year. I guess I will cancel the hold until closer to knowing when it coming out.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments If you still have the hold, I wouldn't let it go. My hold disappeared and I am now checking every time I go on my library site.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments Goodreads now has the publication date as May 22, 2017. I had a feeling that the Dec., 2016 date was to good to be true.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) :( Hurry up already!

I know - Patience, Grasshopper!

I'm afraid I let it go. When it actually is going to come out I will try again

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments New release date: July 4, 2017. Fingers crossed that this is the real deal.

Cheri (nannycil) | 27 comments Anita wrote: "New release date: July 4, 2017. Fingers crossed that this is the real deal."

I am number 4 on the hold at my library. They have it as ordered. I didn't think they ordered them that much ahead of the release date

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments Fantastic. My library doesn't have it available to "Recommend" yet. I'll check back everyday until it is.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've put in a hold for it too....

Should we have a group read?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) would be nice, Kirsten!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I will believe this book is real when I hold it in my hands. I've got it on hold at the library.... for the second time.

message 48: by Tammy (new)

Tammy (ocreader) | 10 comments Yes, this was the longest Julie has ever gone between books. I actually sent her a message checking in to make sure she was ok. I won't let myself get excited though until we get to June. Too many thing can happen before then.

Cheri (nannycil) | 27 comments I still have it on hold too at the library.....sighhh

Anita (anitanodiva) | 286 comments I tried for a NetGalley ARC, but got turned down. Berkley very rarely approves me. I've got it on hold at the library so I will just have to see how long I have to wait, but it will be worth it.
