Linda | 1425 comments This thread is for discussing chapters 16-19 in Book 2. Discussion is scheduled to take place March 11-17.

Linda | 1425 comments Sorry for posting this late, and also for falling behind in my reading and discussions with the group as I've had a bunch of stuff come up at home and work to deal with. I will catch up at some point, just need to find the time to read.

Dan Linda, if you have time now there is no reason you can’t open up all future pages now. That helps people reading ahead too

Linda | 1425 comments OK, I can set up the rest of the threads tomorrow.

Looks like I’ll get some more reading time starting next week as my kids’ school district just closed for six weeks.

Linda | 1425 comments So...Aomame figures out that she’s living within the novel that Tengo helped write. But she lost me when she started talking about her being inside Tengo like on the Fantastic Voyage. Lol.

Tammy Dayton | 81 comments I was really hoping for them to meet at the slide and the rest of the book was an introduction to another book that I could ignore. No such luck.

Bron (bron23) | 50 comments Maybe I missed something, but I went back and checked and I don't think I did. How does Aomame know Tengo is the writer of Air Chrysalis? I could just about go with that she guesses that Fuka-Eri is the daughter of the leader if she had read Air Chrysalis. However when this is written into the story line she hasn't even read the book yet. It makes no sense to me and there seems no context for why she thinks these things or 'knows' them without questioning how she does. Please clarify for me if I have missed something but at this stage this book has now lost me a bit because of this.

Linda | 1425 comments Bron - in the previous section about halfway through chapter 13, the Leader brings up Tengo and his daughter and how they together made a team to fight the Little People (unknowingly, I think). The Leader then tells Aomame how a Tengo wrote Eriko’s story and that it was published as Air Chrysalis. Aomame says at this point that she had heard of the book but hadn’t read it.

Bron (bron23) | 50 comments Thanks Linda, I had skimmed back over previous chapters but somehow missed that. It makes so much more sense now. It just was missing the connecting 'chunk' otherwise.

Linda | 1425 comments You’re welcome! 🙂
