p e r s o n a l i t y ⇢ you better sharpen up
[ M ] arls, as she prefers to be called, is far more devoted than people seem to realize. She has an air of aloofness to her, an easy way of doing things, that makes people think she couldn't give two shake's of a rat's ass about her job. Her job is her life; it pulled her up from the dregs of the caste, and she owes it all to her employment as a guard.
There are several kinds of intelligence, and one that Marls is most known for is her street smarts. She still, inexplicably, applies it to her current employment. She comes off as a fairly "stupid" husk of meat, and they think she has only the intention of working as human shield. But, she knows better. She knows her way around a weapon, knows what to look out for and what to avoid. She knows things that her fellow maids might see as trivial, and wish they'd known more about when they're suddenly useful. She doesn't cut corners; she simply gets to her end point faster because of her experiences.
The last thing that people expect to see Marls do is laugh, or even smile. But, she's gotten very good at hiding her reactions to most things. She's easily amused, finds something to laugh at in even the most serious of situations. Sure, that's not entirely good, but it's not bad either. The only real problem she faces with this is that she's maintained a careful reputation of being so utterly unapproachable, and can't share her amusement with those around her. By attempting to be her best and fit the image she had of guards, she isolated herself in a perfect cone of deterrence. She does ponder over her lack of friends, but she isn't too bummed by it. Less distraction from her job, she'd say.

She grew up as a four. Her mother was a head chef and delighted in cooking for her family. Her specialty was pastries, that made sense seeing as her personality was that of a pastry. Her father was a real estate agent. He was more serious and down to earth. While her mother had more imagination and had her head in the clouds. Her father was very funny though he kept charge of their money. Marls was one of four siblings and loved her parents. the moment she would enter the house her dad would greet her with a hug or tickles and her mother would yell from the kitchen. working on her latest masterpiece laughing as Marls ran to greet her. Marls' two older siblings were jewelry makers and Marls and her twin brother fully intended to start working when their time came. Marls wanted to be an artist maybe a photographer or painter. But it was most likely she would be a head chef and follow in her mothers footsteps. Her older brother wanted to follow the foot steps of his father and her older sister was in love with another four and was content with being a jewelry maker. Her twin had no idea what he wanted to be. That scared the whole family. At least Marls had been able and willing to find an alternate job then an artist but so far he had found nothing. They might go hungry some times and it was rare for the older siblings and parents to get a steady meal but they knew they were lucky to be fours. In that way she lived until she was twelve it was a happy life one she often misses.
Teenage years
It happened when she was twelve. The attack had no purpose but to kill some of the subjects of the royal family. The details are blurry but there were screams and the fire started. There were three shots before Seraphine grabbed Marls hand and they ran. They ran out of the house until Seraphine's hand was suddenly gone from Marls. Marls turned screaming her name but Seraphine was no where around dead or alive. Then Marlowe heard it, her brother screaming. On the way out he had told her too run and now he was screaming for help. But that strength that she had always had and always been able to pin point and to hold onto dissapeared. And she ran. Later she learned it had been rebels who burned down her house and killed her family. She ran and lived on the streets no one would take her in. She lived with other girls that she found after a while of living alone. Then some one found her, Her aunt Alexandria. When young Alexandria and her mother fought and tore apart. Alexandria came to the house where she knew her sister lived to find it burnt to the ground. After asking around she learned the story, she also learned that there was hope, one of her nieces may be alive. She found Marlowe and recognized her mother in her. Marlowe had one request before they left. After they found her cat wandering in the ashes of the house they left for the palace where her aunt worked. Her aunt lived in a house very close and so from twelve to now Marl has grown up there. Marlowe Brielle Jannister, a four is gone. Now there is Marlowe Brielle Olov. Who lives with her aunt and uncle and who is best friends with Callisto. She is anxious to see who she will be assigned to for the selection.
