Aurat March and feminists struggle

Aurat March started out fine, 3 years ago. The rage that women had been containing for decades found a medium to channelize it properly. Unfortunately, feminism in our conservative society is misconstrued as hatred for men. So many females who speak against feminism make this case, that they don't want to compete with men in their lives. While I empathize with women sufferers who have every right to spew anger in harsh slogans as their male counterparts would do, there has to be decent slogans, too. So, the vast majority do not turn away from the cause entirely but rather recognize Aurat March as fight for their basic rights. Most of all, this has to be repeated time and again, feminism is not against men. It was NEVER.
@Ali Brother i would like to highlight a few mistakes by you and then pen my point of view on the topic.1st: You have created two threads of the same discussions. That's confusing as both have separate views and comments. so the discussion is already divided.
2nd: This topic needed to be posted in the Debate and Discussion area. As Chit Chat is just for casual fun and talk.
Hope you consider this when you create any new threads.
Well coming to the topic;
The concept of Aurat March is not a new concept to the society. Its been here for quite some time now under different slogans and means of representations. In all day and ages people who were aware of there rights and importance have stood up when they were denied of those rights. However more traction has always been given to the occasions where people have stood up for rights that were deemed non existent for the relevant group(s).
In my point of view it is always a good thing to stand up for your rights. So its should not be anything that is not digestible to our society. However, unfortunately that's not the case. I believe its because the objective of the recent marches have deviated from its core objective. A hand full of people have started to use this initiative to achieve their ill objective under the cover of this noble activity. The activity focus should have been on fighting for the rights already announced by the religion and our culture while emphasizing on abolishing or amending those cultural norms which contribute towards building obstacles in the way of actual progression in life for the ladies around us. I know the activities have included these things but the emphasis appears to be on few slogans which are considered taboo in our religion and culture. Slogans like free women from men who are actually there caretakers such as husband and father, Rebelling against the need for nikkah and many more such slogans. Such things make it a very hard pill to swallow for the people. I can assure you that if the objective was only to fight for female education, equal work opportunities, equal treatment in inheritance and against physical domestic abuse then a majority of people would have loved to become part of it. It would have been socially more acceptable.
I truly believe it is not about being against men. It is in its true form about picking the women up equal to us men. The words like feminism ( due to its historic representation for taboo objectives; as per our religion and culture) give a wrong vibe to the initiative.
@Nuzhat I agree. In addition , the organiser of Aurat March should focus on the plights of , specially , rural women. As they had little access to mobility + internet banking . Unfortunately, the top brass of Aurat March ( AM ) had neither continued their struggle during Musharaf era nor defied patriarchy but portrayed indecent slogans abruptly since last year . Had all women/men are pious ? No way As far as the western feminism is concerned, liberal were successful in suffrage back in 1920 because they had opted legal + social way , not radical .
All around the world , gender base violence (GBV) is prevalent. Interestingly, one may find a 19-20 ka faraq in France( developed country ) and Pakistan ( developing country ). So , women and men have to take onboard all stakeholders to foster women participation in national life. It’s constitutional + Islamic right of women . But segregation and libel of all men as bad would be fatal for feminist struggle in Pakistan .
@Daniyal Bhia I’m sorry , and I’ll make sure keh ainda aise galti na ho 😊Well , when women of Pakistan was not pro in national life ? While West was struggling for suffrage and economic participation , Fatima Jinnah and begum liaquat were spearhead of women. Similarly , after independence, women of Pakistan has had inheritance + social + economic + political rights. Actually , Women of Pakistan had never been on street but Zia’s hudood Ordinance + Karo kari in sindh forced women to establish Women Action Force that set effigy on fire at Mall Lahore and it was captured by In’t media. And women went home once Musharaf promulgated legal framework for women.
AM again restarted in 2018. It is unjust . The so-called feminists of Pakistan have less cognisance of ground reality . Either they studied abroad or they studied in Pakistan but borrowed syllabus( in gender studies + women studied departments, no indigenous material ) . Then how could one implement social-economic realities of the west in Pakistan . Their major problem is patriarchy. Alright . Did they taken on board the 59 women parliamentarians to address a issue ? Had they tried to take religious parties or CII to help in Equal Act ? Answer is simply no . A
It’s just a vested interest of few . Had they been that much cagey and worried about women they would have lobbied with HBL or any other bank on AM day to facilitate women for banking + they could initiate educational sponsorship for poor girls or mobility . But no , they highlighted indecent slogan . And that’s how they are pondering to win equality . Lastly , AM management lack religious support . And until and unless they can’t patch with woman like Farhat Ishtiaq , AM would be just a fun mela for Pakistanis.

What are the struggle of feminists to highlight women’s plight in Pakistan ?
