Now that the weather is warming up, lets tackle that to do list! For this challenge, read a book (owned or unowned) that you have been meaning to get to for a while!

Eileen | 1856 comments Okay, this is going to have to be The Stand. It's been on my list for over 5 years, lol! Finally getting around to reading it!

Jade Melody (jademelody) For this I will be reading the oldest book on my TBR! When Breath Becomes Air

Eileen | 1856 comments I just finished reading The Stand and despite the times we live in, I really enjoyed it! I'm glad I finally got around to reading it and I'm wondering why I took so long!

That was my first book by that author and it was rather interesting.

it will also be my first read from this author. I've heard the show is really good

message 13: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 1856 comments I haven't seen the show, but I can tell you that after reading it, I ended up reading her other book, What Alice Forgot, which I think I liked even more.

Good choices everyone! I have read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, but I think I am going to dig back even more and pull out something I've had even longer!

message 15: by Tr1sha (new)

Tr1sha | 828 comments I have, at last, finished reading Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley. It was on my TBR list for ages, then it took a long time to read. An interesting biography that explains the background to her books.

message 16: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 1856 comments I finished The Stand for this challenge, but I'm going to do another one, or at least attempt it. It's THE oldest book I have on my TBR list on Goodreads. The Secret History I put it on my list on June 26, 2008!

Right?! I got the challenge on the Bookopoly and decided that perhaps it was finally time to dig it off the shelf, lol!

message 19: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 1856 comments Woo hoo! I finished The Secret History and I can't believe it took me that long to start the darn thing! It was really good. I couldn't stop reading it once I started! Those who are very picky about their audiobooks should probably read it though. The author narrates it and she's not the greatest, although I was able to adjust to her voice after a time. It wasn't annoying really--but it just wasn't great. But in the end I ended up listening and reading and as I said, I couldn't put it down!

I'm reading Oliver Twist for this one. I've had a harcover copy on my shelf for more years than I can remember. I'm enjoying it so far.

I finished Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. It didn't me nearly as long to read it as I thought it would. It's good!

It's only as an adult that I've started to appreciate the great writers. :)

Exactly. Now I know why they are called classics.
With contemporary authors it's been hit or miss for me, mostly miss unfortunately.
But I loved Middlesex. That was a fun read.
