Mustafa | 11 comments This girl's dad is a doctor, they live in their grandparent's property cause they are poor. The girl used to go to a private school that her grandparents paid for. The girl helps her dad sometimes when he goes to meet patients. Once she helped her dad put a girl to sleep and fix her broken bones. A virus attacks the city and the city is put in quarantine. The girl tries to get into the city to visit a friend but is not allowed in. There are very few vaccines in the city and they are very expensive. Dad is a doctor so he has some vaccines that he gives to his family. The older brother sells the vaccine for a car then dies. Also the maid has a child that is secretly living in there house. The main character finds out and helps him.

it takes place in the past. They have horses.

Andy Phillips | 244 comments It can't be too far in the past if a vaccine is exchanged for a car. Are you sure it's not just that society has collapsed and technology has been replaced by older ways? Do you know if it's based on a real disease? Do you know where it's set (country and location, i.e. Canada and urban, or USA and rural)?

I don't remember where it took place but I am almost sure it took place in the past. I don't think anything in the book was based or real life.

Rainbowheart | 29111 comments Well, I'm confused. If there were horses and cars, sounds like it must be speculative science fiction of some type. Maybe the society was less technological, if it wasn't based on anything in real life.

Surely can't be the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic, since there was no vaccine for that.

Bro, idk. It was not Sifi. I don't know if they made up fake sickness in a fake place or not

Rainbowheart | 29111 comments Huh, maybe alternative history.

There's Plague, but I don't think the girl's father is a doctor.

Did the book look old or new when you read it?

I am guessing the book was from the 2000s. But it did not look old. I got the book from the library
