A girl I dated was/is really into Constantine and she had told me about the differences in art work and character presentation as the main artists changed. Esp. about one particular guy that focused excessively on Constantine's heterosexual romances.Anyone who knows better, enlighten us :D
I've been collecting and re-reading Hellblazer trades recently. They're currently up to Vol. 9 of the re-releases, which are ordered a bit better. I definitely recommend starting at the beginning with Jamie Delano's run. Most of the elements in the NBC series seem to be pulled from Jamie Delano's fantastic writing, with a few pieces taken from further down in the canon. The horrid Keanu Reeves movie was loosely based on Garth Ennis' famous run, which is probably some of the only Garth Ennis work I've liked.
I'm eager to get to Brian Azzarello's run, which introduced Constantine's queer/bisexual openness.
Honestly, from all I've read so far, the first 3 books (Hellblazer, Vol. 1: Original Sins, Hellblazer, Vol. 2: The Devil You Know, and Hellblazer, Vol. 3: The Fear Machine) have been my favourites.
