Thanks for linking the author!
I've always wanted to read the Quartet myself, but I'm a bit behind you. :) I have yet to read The Virgin in the Garden!

Prou, Helen - should I give you a head start to read The Virgin..., or start Still Life (the second novel in the series)? If the remaining three novels are anything like the first one, I should better start at once (I'm not a wimp of a reader, but these books are the opposite of beach reading).

I will get copies of these tho.
Argh, I was too lazy to click on letter by letter to see the hidden names in every folder. There's a lot of Byatt that I would like to read....
"Possession" is one of the best book I have ever read. And it is among the small population of books that I plan to re-read.I've read the first three books of the Quartet; but have gotten stuck in the middle of the fourth book, "A Whistling Woman". I fear that A.S. Byatt may be channeling some of her sister's (Margaret Drabble) tendencies for the creepy here. But I could be wrong--I need to finish that book before passing judgement.
The first three books of the Frederica Quartet are good, and "Still Life" is very good.
I have fallen in love with Frederica Potter, warts and all.
Good things have been said about "The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye" and "Angels & Insects"; and probably read both soon.
In 2014 I read my first Byatt novel, The Children's Book. There were parts of the novel that I thought were magnificient, espeically the opening sequence in the museum and the end chapters dealing with the children's experiences in WWI. However, I thought the story got lost in all the focus on the details of things pottery and glazes. I gave the novel 4 stars and I am interested in reading more by Dame Byatt, perhaps one of her shorter works is what I would try next.
I heard The Matisse Stories is an excellent collection. As for Possession, it is every bit as good as people say. Can't believe I lost a few years avoiding it for fear it is overrated.
