Phoenix (Books with Wings) I have a list of names that are fairly uncommon if you want me to copy and paste into here.

kylee, (allmyfriends_arefictional) Cool!

I'm just tellin that those names r muslim names nd if u use them in story.. then u have to use a muslim pers..."

Okay, thanks for letting me know! Also, I don't think that that's necessarily true...especially if it's set in a different world, like a fantasy world, where the earthen ethnicities are not really present there. which is sort of how it is in the story I'm writing right now.

Hm. Well I've read a few books with those names in them and none of them had Muslim personalities.
A really common old-fashioned name is Emma, Lucy is another one, Susan.
For men there's Wallace, Charles, Peter, Edmund, Reginald.

ella ❦ Oh thanks

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Ha ha, pretty sure that Potatos actually uses that method.

message 24: by Calypso ♡ (new)

Calypso ♡ hey I need a fictional world but with no monster or anything I need it to be free of people and be like an escape and a safe haven but I will use it in an actual book with my friend and I so don't put too much effort and stuff also copyright reasons just give me stuff that I can do to make me feel inspired or something

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

just write down a bunch of words that describe what you want it to be, just any words. then take them and make a comprehensible description. (I do that for coming up with book idead)

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

ideas*

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) I just start writing. The project I'm working on started as a collaboration with my friend. We started it very cliché, but it has evolved. But at the time, we would write one chapter of our version, get together and revise, then write the next chapter. When we started, we knew hardly anything about the book but each chapter we wrote gave us more ideas.

Calypso ♡ thanks everyone

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Have you tried using name generators? I use them a lot to look for names.

Phoenix (Books with Wings) I usually use this one for first, middle, last names: https://www.name-generator.org.uk/

This one is for fantasy names and you can find names for all sorts of creatures like elves, dwarves, etc. and names for cities, towns, countries. I believe you can find normal names as well but there's a lot of choices for what ethnicity the name should be from so it's sort of confusing. https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/

Phoenix (Books with Wings) No problem! I hope that helps!

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) Okay so

there's one character in my book that I'm renaming

and I can't decide between the names Caliope and Ariah

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Hmm....what's their personality?

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) She's twelve years old, but she acts a lot older, and she's super quiet. I'm also considering making her mute, because she's a bit too perfect right now. ((Her name's Luna, she was given to me by a friend))

Phoenix (Books with Wings) I vote Ariah. It sounds like a quieter name than Caliope. I don't know, it just sounds like it fits better. But of course this is completely your choice--that's just my opinion!

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Alright guys I'm trying to think of a word but I'm totally blanking.
You know when in books they say, "less than ___ circumstances"? Like, when something happens that is good or something goes well even though it was under "less than ___ circumstances"? I can't think of that word!!! It's driving me crazy, if anyone knows what word I'm talking about please answer! I currently have the word "adequate" in there but it just doesn't sound right! It's on the tip of my tongue, I keep remembering it for a second and then forgetting.

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Hmmm...I don't think that's exactly the right word but thanks for trying!

Phoenix (Books with Wings) Ahh, I think I got it! I'm pretty sure that ideal is the word I want to use here. Thank you for the help though, guys! I really appreciate it!

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) less than great?

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) WAIT! TELL ME THE WORD! Now it's driving m e crazy!!!!!

(Also, Dagger, I vote Ariah!)

"less than perfect circumstances"?

message 43: by ✦lois✦ (new)

✦lois✦ (loislovesyou) | 5 comments Hi , I'm writing a kind of satire book about YA.
Like gathering all the stereotypical things and making it into one book.
Do you know any commonly used tropes in YA?
I already got this:
(I'll copy and paste it)

message 44: by ✦lois✦ (new)

✦lois✦ (loislovesyou) | 5 comments Generic YA Book Has:

A Girl

Who is not like other girls (she’s special)?

She has Daddy Issues

Has a troubled past (preferably a death but an abusive mother will also do)

Doesn’t know she’s beautiful (a boy will have to tell her)

She’s so cool she stands up for people

Has Perfect hair and Captivating eyes (green or blue because no other eye colour exists)

But has a bland personality

A Boy

He’s a Bad boy with a troubled past

Always handsome and has special eyes (this is mentioned in every other sentence)

Pursues after girl even after she says no (because he can’t seem to get away from her captivating eyes)

He would be considered a stalker in any other situation but he’s way to handsome for that (plus it’s love)

Has perfectly messy hair

Rides a Harley and has a leather jacket (why wouldn’t he)

But has a bland personality

A Plot:

That’s so bad it’s almost non-existent

Very generic and predictable

Bad writing

Probably written by a teenage girl

Sentences like these:

Her eyes (insert random adjective)

His hair (insert random adjective)

I pull her close to me

The wind swept passed my hair

My heart was beating so fast

Gosh her hair smelt like flowers or anything else

My heart was breaking

Conclusion:

They’ll probably make a movie about this.
