Man, this is another one I feel like I've been trying to get around to reading forever now! Sadly, because of my book first, movie later policy I haven't even seen the flick version yet (and I'd really like to!) Since Veronica Roth is only 26-years-old, I'll squeeze it in here.

I know this has been a big hit with YA/Dystopian lovers, any thoughts?

misplacedselchie | 347 comments Divergent was a pretty good read. It has everything you'd think of, plus a little romance (and when I say 'little' I mean miniscule).

I think you'll enjoy it. It's an interesting take on dystopia (I especially enjoyed the idea of 'factions'). If you continue reading it, consider this a fair warning about Allegiant, it is going to make you very upset. But don't worry about that now...enjoy Divergent first lol

Kristin Excellent book!! I will be reading the second one for the week one challenge! I hope you enjoy!

Taylor (amateursuperhero) | 66 comments I am also planning on reading this! I really didn't have too much of an interest in seeing the movie but maybe if I like the book enough I'll give it a shot.

Ashley Weaver-morales | 19 comments I will join you on this week :) I liked the movie so I have been pushing to read the book.

Jhanice | 9 comments I loved this book! I havent seen the movie either, but im not much of a movie person to begin with xP

Since Veronica Roth is still a young author I actually chose to read Allegiant for this week, becaus it's the only book of the trilogy I have yet to read. Im a little worried since my friends keep wishing me "good luck" when I tell them what i'm reading, lol.

Tom | 26 comments I was considering reading this for my trilogy, but I think I'll just read the first one in this week. It looks like it should be a good read.

Nikita Menon (solitary_nikki) | 1 comments Divergent is a good book but I felt Insurgent and Alegiant were just not upto mark.

I'm with you, Taylor. I truly do not have much of an interest in this series, unlike my undying obsession with "Game of Thrones," but due to its popularity, I honestly want to see what its appeal is.

Cait the Bookish Bansídhe (bookishbansidhe) This is my Week 6 book, but I've already read it! I'm the same way as Michelle. I'm a book first, movie second person. I'm excited that I can finally watch the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot more than I thought I would.

Tina (tjlich) I read all the books and saw Divergent. In fact, I've seen Divergent about 4 times. I am a 45 year old female, so keep in mind that this series has wide-spread appeal. I enjoyed it more than Hunger Games. It is true, the final book does annoy and sadden and even anger many readers, but I truthfully had no issues with that part of this series. I did however, have a colossal issue with HOW that part of the story was told. But that's a discussion for another time. I honestly think, in this case, that I enjoyed the movie a little better than the book. But I am not the best visual reader, so if a movie is done well, as Divergent was done, I tend to lean toward the side of the movie. I do hope to get better at becoming more visual as I read.

Cybersekkin | 25 comments I had no idea who Roth was, until I was trapped on a plane last year and saw the movie. The storyline was gripping and I am looking forward to reading the book. Outside a few rare exceptions the movies are never even close to the books. In fact I find I watch fewer and fewer movies as many of them are disappointing. That said in this case a movie brought an author to my attention.

I'm 46 & loved both the movie & the book. This is my first trilogy and everyone has very interesting comments about the other two books. I'm wondering how far the filmmakers will stray from the second book since they took a departure from Divergent at the end.
