Seth Macy | 2 comments New to this group - looking for opinions...

IF someone were to write a FR book that went out of the norm, and if WOTC were to publish it, how interested would you be in it?

Along the lines of less macho, more cosmopolitan, mind-expanding, gender bending, etc. Of course still plenty of fighting and camaraderie and MOST of the things WOTC and D&D stand for, just a little more postmodern, still readable though.

Is there a place in FR for this? Maybe it already exists... can anyone help me? I grew up reading FR and love the rich world. I could do a standalone fantasy novel, but I'd rather set in FR.

Michael Tharp | 28 comments I was wondering that some thing, Seth. I have an idea for a new set of characters with a bit more of an edge. Not so clear cut good/evil. I would definitely read something like this. I would love some info on writing a treatment and submission guidelines for FR.

Seth Macy | 2 comments That's 1 vote Michael... well 2 if you count mine. I'd read this too if someone else has done it. Submission guidelines for FR seem to be hard to find, but I get the feeling from Wizards that they're pretty happy with their formula. I'm not saying anything against FR, but I think it would benefit the world to have a few writers open it up a little wider - my ideas involve the Feywild and characters that range from good to unaligned to darker still... planning to try it out with a few short stories first.

Val Panesar | 33 comments The Gossamer Plain is pretty unusual in its protagonist and characters - and the latter Drizzt books also emphasise the grey morality of the post-spellplague realms, don't they?
Personally I like to think of fantasy as the setting - and that shouldn't dictate the kind of stories or characters that go in it.
