Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 15 comments Have you ever stopped reading an author because of the fandom? Like even if you didn't like the book, or were considering giving them another chance, the fandom turned you off the author FOREVER?

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 79 comments No, but I have heard of such things happening. I have sworn off an author due to their behavior though.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 79 comments Anne Rice is one, Orson Scott Card is another.

Tytti | 25 comments No, but I have made guesses that some book with a lot of "great" reviews from people sounding like "fangirls" wouldn't interest me.

Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 15 comments John Green is the one I swore off of, his fandom is out of control and he is always praising them too.

Chris (bibliophile85) | 22 comments I swore off Orson Scott Card because I find his politics and attitudes toward gay people deplorable. His rabid fandom that defends every reprehensible thing he says didn't help matters.

I used to read Dean Koontz in high school (it's an old shame of mine, I know) and his legion of fans who act like he's the best thing to ever happen to the thriller/horror genre irritate me to no end

It's good to grow out of your high school favorites. I'm much older than you and my high school favorite was Leon Uris. I'm glad my taste has matured.

Lady ♥ Belleza (bella_foxx) Not necessarily fandom, but I make it a point to not read books where the author's name is in bigger print than the book title.
