¨Yes, Mrs. Waugman¨, I said as I handed her my test.
¨Your test will be graded tomorrow¨, you may go now Sair she said.
¨ok cool, bye¨, I told her.
I grabbed my backpack and headed out the class room. When I got outside, I went to the bike racks. My bike was dark blue and silver, with a few dents in it, from the Plaza incident. I took off the lock that concealed the chains, and dropped it in my bag. I got on my bike and peddled to the edge of the sidewalk, when my cellphone buzzed. I got it out and read it, it was a text message.
¨Hey Sair, how was the math test?¨ Lizzy texted.
¨It was pretty hard. I got so frustrated, I wanted to say cant you get someone else to find your X¨, I texted back.
¨Lol, I don't think that would end well, since shes married now¨, Lizzy texted.
I smiled.
¨Your kinda lucky Sair. You got to have some more time to study, since you were late¨, Lizzy texted back.
¨I guess¨, I texted. I had a Doctor's appointment.
¨So, wanna hang out?¨ Lizzy texted.
¨Nah, not today. Got lots of homework¨, I texted back.
I slipped my cell into my pocket and peddled down the street. I hopped the curb of the sidewalk and pressed the cross-walk button. The cars stopped, I rode my bike down Apple-Creek Boulevard, but there was construction work up ahead.
¨Sorry kid, go around¨. Said a construction worker.
I got off my bike and walked it on the grass, I was about to turn into Peach Avenue when I saw something green walk across the road. I rode my bike off the grass and onto the the other sidewalk, the person rounded the corner.
¨Hey wait!¨ said Sair.
The person turned, then began to run.
I peddled my bike fast down the street keeping up with him. I just wanna talk, hold up. This wasn't working...he isn't slowing down.
¨I yelled, I'm the only one that can see you!¨
He slowed to a stop. He stood there quietly.
¨I remember seeing you at Smoothie Robot¨, said Sair.
¨why did you steal the money?¨ said Sair.
He looked at me.
¨what?¨ It said Donation, and Im grateful for them sharing with me, he smiled. He looked at her and frowned. ¨You wouldn't understand if I told you¨, he said.
¨I have time¨, said Sair.
He started walking. I hesitated then followed. I followed him down Apple-Creek Avenue; he stopped at a house across the street and sat on the curb.
My names Trevor. Im the youngest of my 2 brothers, Rex & Dexter. I have a little sister. Her names Anju, she's sick.
¨But, still. You could have worked instead of steal¨, said Sair.
I wouldn't have enough time. My sister have Cellulitis...its a type of skin disease, it stares out as a swollen red rash...it can become life threatening if not treated. Me and my brothers been trying to help my mom save up money to get the antibiotics....but I messed up.
How did you die?
He looked at the small house, I was working with some pretty shady people. Everything was fine, until that night; I was jumped and beaten to death.
¨Now you know¨, he said.
That's not fair Trevor, I'm so sorry...
We stood there in silence for a while.
You know I have some people who can help you, there really good at helping spirits. I live over there by Peach Avenue, my house has these black railing and stairs. My names Sair by the way. I got on my bike and peddled for home, I looked back; he was gone.
