April read for Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch. Anyone feel free to join!

going to start tonight!

I've already read this, but it was so good, I might have to reread it!

I hope to start this one this weekend! I realized the copy I have is an ARC (I bought it secondhand and I must have missed that??), so if anything I comment on is different from the final copy, you'll have to let me know, hahaha!

Well. Talk about FORESHADOWING

It's a good book but it can get very confusing! lol.

I'm nearly a third of the way through this. I'm handling all the individual parts of the story well enough, and I'm breezing through the story, but I don't know how I'm actually feeling about it yet? I'm not NOT enjoying it, but equally, this feels a lot like several other science fiction books I've read.

It's very science-heavy which is where it got bogged down for me but overall I really enjoyed it.

Fortunately, one of my best friends is a PhD student currently in physics, so I've had the benefit of coercing him into explaining some of the concepts that go over my head a bit. I've texted him so much about the book already that he's started to read it, too.

His take so far has been "I don't know what to say other than physics people are weird people." hahaha

at 55% (Chapter 10) and (view spoiler)[I'm really glad it specifically addressed the little things that Mean Jason does differently than Nicer Jason. It had been a point kind of stuck in my head, because I'm 99% sure I'd notice if someone replaced my husband, even if it were just a different version of himself, because of how he interacts with me/the kids. It was also really interesting to consider what I might do differently in some other piece of a possible multiverse. (hide spoiler)]

Just a little past that, and (view spoiler)[literally said "oh, great" out loud because it talks about one of the Chicagos they end up in being quarantined for some type of highly contagious illness. lmao (hide spoiler)]

WELL, I finished it. I actually wrote a half-formed review for my thoughts on it, too, hahaha.

ahhhh Brave and your amazing pace hahahaha. I'm 20% in, Jason 1 is in the hospital and Jason 2 just got home. This book is already MESSING with me.

I seem to be having a hard time with this book and I almost wonder if it's one of those rare occasions when the timing is just bad. Something about being in a world that is supposed to be normal and comforting but nothing is right. I'm taking quarantine pretty badly, so I think I'm in a weird headspace for this book.

I'm also finding the author's style uncomfortably choppy.

I'm sorry Brave, I have to DNF this at 40%. When I groan at the prospect of going back to a book I know its time to call it quits.
