The Winter of the Witch question

I'm a finicky, intermittent reader who loved Naomi Novik and Katherine Arden's books about strong magical women and their enticing, difficult love interests. But if I never read another brutal bloody battle scene it will be too soon. I love slow-paced and low action books. Is there anything out there that doesn't culminate in grand gruesome war? Any suggestions for what to read next?
