Hi everyone, how is everyone holding up this month? Things are finally going into a "regular" swing of things for me. Hopefully freeing up more time to be on here, read or do other fun things.

I have 3 readathons I am doing or plan to do this month.
O.W.L.s magical readathon-all month
Manga Madness -next week
Dewey's 24 hr readathon- last weekend of April.

So hoping to get a lot read this month!

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments That's great to hear Jamie.

I am hoping to kind of join the OWLS as well! I'm basically just doing my own version of it.

I'm hoping to leave in less than 24 hours so today will be busy and tomorrow as well. I REALLY hope I get to go home this time.

Yeah fellow O.W.L Taker!! I am taking it very low-key and see how it goes. I didn't pick a career goal even.

I REALLY hope you can get home! Bad enough what is going on but being away from home must feel so much worse and more stressful! Safe travels!

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I picked a few. I'm still quite lost on how to do it hence the my own version. I do have 'categories' I'm supposed to read for so I have that at least.

Thanks! IKR?! And it's worse that we have no idea when this all could end! I just want to be home!

This is my first attempt at them. It’s a bit intimidating and a lot seems interpretable so just do you.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Jamie wrote: "This is my first attempt at them. It’s a bit intimidating and a lot seems interpretable so just do you."

Thanks. At the very least it will be a very low key easy challenge. ^_^

Kai Charles(Fiction State Of Mind) (fictionstateofmind) I'm doing OWLS too! The discord groups are really helpful

I guess I should check those out. Was the discoed link on the main site for this years challenge?

Oh and COYER has another FB readathon too!!! Gonna be keeping busy!

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
I love that at least a few of us are doing it though!

message 11: by Beth (new)

Beth (artemishi) | 285 comments I decided to to the OWLs readathon a few hours before it started, myself. Mostly because I was doing fine until last week, and have started to utterly fall apart, and I think the readathon will be a good focus for me. Virtual escapism, right? :)

message 12: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
Yeah I am hoping to escape more this month. Reality sucks right now. I hope it helps all of us to keep our spirits up.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I'm home! I'm home! I'm hoooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Finally! 🥳 Thank you, Paris and Air France for getting me home!

Beth (artemishi) | 285 comments Welcome home, Anna!

It is! It's also weird but I'll adjust back quickly. Currently enjoying laying in bed with Ruby who is also SUPER happy.

Go relax and cuddle your girl! Get some much deserved rest and relaxation. I would have been so much more stressed traveling during this than traveling otherwise.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Jamie wrote: "Go relax and cuddle your girl! Get some much deserved rest and relaxation. I would have been so much more stressed traveling during this than traveling otherwise."

Thanks. I'm currently watching a Chinese drama I was really sad I couldn't watch while traveling.

It wasn't too bad but it wasn't great either. Just weird. On my flight from Spain there were people who literally looked like they should be in a lab or something. They had full body suits, mask, and goggles. O.o

message 20: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I am sooooooooooooooooo bored in self isolation. Only 48 more hours and I am freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I can finally walk Ruby again and drive in the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 21: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
I have mixed thoughts on this isolation. I have LOVED getting in and really listing and organizing my books (almost done!!!!) and as an extreme introvert, I am loving some of the quiet but as it drags on, it gets harder. I've never liked shopping or going out to eat, etc really but I DO miss getting out of the house. Hiking, camping, going out to fly a kite, etc and I can't even do those things. And watching all the festivals being canceled that are annual things for us is depressing.
To top it off, Dewey's is next week yet hosts don't seem to be doing anything to get people into it like usual (I have no idea wwhat their jobs are so might be busy. Hopefully not sick). I even messaged 2 of them, offering to help but no reply. So apparently that is going to be super calm this year which has me unmotivated.

You have no idea how glad I am that you jumped on to chat though. That was uplifting. :)

message 23: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Same. I love time to myself. I average an hour a day out and then spend like 23 hours at home but it's been really hard since I can't even walk Ruby. I'm not a hermit just an introvert.

I'm sorry the read a thon is not as fun this year. I hope the people are okay.

message 24: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Jamie wrote: "You have no idea how glad I am that you jumped on to chat though. That was uplifting. :)"

Same! Nobody seems to be on to chat this month. Especially here! I think it's because there are no teams so except for people posting on the monthly review thread and their own series threads there's been no chatting. :(

message 25: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Also now that I think about it the monthly chat threads have always mostly been you, me and Sans. I think some others have popped on once in a while but it's usually us three.

message 26: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
Yeah Beth and Kai at times. But never been a chatty group. Even when we did the teams the team chats were quiet. Everyone’s lives are all over the place it seems.

message 27: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Yeah. :(

I wish we were more chatty. I love chatting with people.

message 28: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments So what are you doing right now? ^_^

message 29: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
I am usually happy to chat when I can :). Maybe others will see us in notifications and will join us.

I hope so!

I know a lot of people are busy but I need chatty people. lol. Time zones are not always my friend. :P

message 31: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
My hours are all off. Been staying up late and. Now I need to align my sleep to be up super early in a week. And most my family all live in different times zones but most in the US so not too far off at least.

message 32: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Mine too. I'm back to a night schedule. I did well going to bed early last night (around midnight) but then I slept until like 1pm... 🤦‍♀️

That's really nice. At least it's only a 3-hour difference at most then. :)

message 33: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
You have the excuse of traveling back home though. :)

message 34: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Jamie wrote: "You have the excuse of traveling back home though. :)"

True but I was doing well when I had something to get up for during the day. Now I just try to pass the day sleeping. :S

message 35: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments It doesn't help it's been cloudy, rainy or snowy this past week.

message 36: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
Yeah poor weather doesn’t help. Last week weather was good. This week not so much.

message 37: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments It is 'April Showers' though. lol. I'll just need to use my SAD lamp more. :)

message 38: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Ruby doesn't mind some rain or snow. She's been really bored so it's been cute seeing her 'catch' the snow in her mouth.

message 39: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Oh and 'today' is the one year anniversary of how long I have had RUBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got her at like 12-2 pm on April 18th 2019! (Thank you pictures or I would have a horrible time remembering.)

Has it been a year already?! I guess so. Sheesh I e noticed that with books too. My time of things has felt off.

message 41: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (last edited Apr 17, 2020 09:50PM) (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments IKR?! A whole year! Time just flew by.

I need to start taking pics of her again. She's not looking her best right now though as she hasn't had a bath or been groomed in months. Have to wait till after the pandemic is over.

Some books have just been pushed back as well. So the pub dates are all wacky.

message 42: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
Yeah I haven’t even looked into that. Luckily I am still focused on my insane backlist mostly.

message 43: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Dates have been changing a lot. When I sort my shelves that I already sorted I keep having to move books back. :(

message 44: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
One more books task I have to do too I guess.

message 45: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Jamie wrote: "One more books task I have to do too I guess."

Probably. If you wait till later in the year it won't be too much moving then. I think some authors are very pessimistic some not as much and some aren't moving dates at all.

message 46: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
Yeah not sure how long I’ll wait but not gonna worry too much right now.

My yoga teacher had a great idea where she writes out a list named: What I Can Still Do
It really helps put things in perspective! Maybe we can all post one to encourage each other. Hope your struggle gets easier.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I've been doing really well with my audio lately. I got farther into book 3 of HP in like a week then I did for any of the other two. I'm listening to it while I play Hayday. While Ruby is outside and before bed. I sometimes listen to it instead of music too. :)

I’ve been listening to a ladies guide to piracy and petticoats. Great job on the harry potter‘s. I keep seeing this thing where people try to read as much of the Harry Potter series as they can in a 24 hour period. I’m tempted to try that one at some point and see how I can do.

@kai What are some of the best things that you’ve gotten from your yoga teacher so far?
