Ok. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This series is my perfect guilty pleasure series. Also, I know some people were kinda pissed about the whole "Surprise she's gay" twist because it felt like it was only for a splash of diversity. But personally, I thought (view spoiler)[Evangeline and Elane (hide spoiler)] made such a cute couple, even if it was only for a few scenes. Although, as a lover of females and Young Adult novels I might be blinded by the cuteness that is the (view spoiler)[Evangeline Elane (hide spoiler)] romance. If you read my review of Glass Sword I did warn you about the gushing over these two. Anyways, moving on. I really did like the whole partial explanation of Maven. Sure, he's still a horrible person, but it's not TOTALLY his fault. I do also like the balance of captive-mare and free-mare. The amount of romance scenes were perfect, as I often feel like fantasy novels often contain a little too much romance for my taste.
All in all, it was really good! And in light of libraries closing, if you'd like to read this series you can on InternetArchives! (they don't have Broken Throne, but you can go without it if you must it seems.) here's the links to all the books!: Red Queen Glass Sword King's Cage War Storm
If you'd like, here's the review for Red Queen and Glass Sword, which also contains the order the books should be read in.
I honestly would never had found out about this site without Coronavirus. note: Open Library is very similar and is home to tons of YA books, but doesn't have as much to choose from as Internet Archives.
I requested the Red Queen books from the library, but only everything except War Storm was ready. Then, before I could pick up War Storm when it was finally ready, coronavirus closed all of the libraries. So yeah. Because of that, the War Storm review isn't coming for a while as I can only read it during the day. But I am reading the prequel novellas in Broken Throneat night, so I should be able to review both Broken Throne and War Storm around the same time.
