Red v Blue is a common 'thread' for foes through 'time' (and fiction) ;-)

(Warning: This video contains Comedic violence if you don't like that sort of thing)

How did Coke v Pepsi not make the cut? :-?

BTW: Does anyone know what type of bird is the blue one of the cover? I know the red one is a Cardinal.

I did a Google search and Amal El-Mohtar had answered the question on Goodreads.

https://www.goodreads.com/questions/1...

Great question! The red one is a cardinal and the blue one is an Ultramarine Flycatcher, according to Greg Stadnyk who designed the cover. (I kept thinking it was either a bluebird or tree swallow, but I was incorrect!)

As much as I loved the book, I kept expecting the characters to rendezvous in Blood Gulch.

terpkristin | 4407 comments Blood Gulch is all I can think of. I haven’t started. I should but instead am watching old Grey’s Anatomy episodes.

Trike | 11298 comments Blue team has the flag!

Red team... flag return.

Trike | 11298 comments Is it still possible to play the demo version of BG somewhere?

I never got into Halo. Probably because I'm crap at FPSs ;-)

I like the Red v Blue animations though.

I had to sell Halo in order to get my life back. It’s the closest thing I’ve experienced to addiction. So. Much. Fun.

I purposely only play games that have an end point. I know it's the only thing that keeps my games addiction at bay.

I will play a game to death (to full completion), then have a break for a few days before starting another one.

It's why I've never tried WoW. I know I'd become addicted :-?

Steve (plinth) | 179 comments I've always associated read team/blue team with computer security.
The red team tries to penetrate a company's security and the blue teams defends against them.
This terminology comes from the military for mock battles.
Wonder if the red/blue colors were chosen for that reason?

Richard Vogel | 246 comments I see the security team angle in that (serious spoilers, so don't open until you finish the book) (view spoiler) I don't know if either of the authors have a security background or investigated the field, and I don't think it holds beyond a few events, but it is an interesting angle. Thanks for pointing it out.

Trike | 11298 comments I know of red v. blue in security and military, but while listening to the book it never occurred to me to put 2 and 2 together. #headslap D’oh!

Richard Vogel | 246 comments I wonder if the security angle had anything to do with (view spoiler)
