It took a while because of a reading slump, but I finished and enjoyed the book a lot!

I can never remember how to add the links lol! So I just did a copy/paste:I am certainly not the most articulate person in the world so when I come across a great writer, I read with whole admiration. That being said, I wouldn’t do this book justice by trying to describe the entire plot with my elementary articulation. 😄 But I will say that this book will probably go on my list of top faves ever and I will recommend this to anyone who loves a good character driven novel.
You won’t find any action-packed thrills in this book and it’s not fast-paced by any means, but I think that Amor Towles’ prose is, for me, flawless and it just carries you through the 450+ pages with ease. His writing is charming, eloquent and so fluidly written that I can read 150 pages and feel like only minutes have passed. Towles transports you to Russia from 1922 to the mid 1950’s as seen through the eyes of Count Alexander Rostov who is living under house arrest at the grand Metropol hotel. This story follows the Count’s life and the inhabitants of the hotel amidst some tumultuous times in Russian history. As you follow the Count through his friendships and relationships he has forged with the different characters in the hotel, they become sweet and endearing. You become invested in his life and wonder what will become of this intelligent and interesting man. By the end of the book, I felt Towles’ didn’t leave anything to question and I was fully satisfied with the complete story. Although as I was reaching the end, I realized that I didn’t want it to end, and so I finished the last sentence with a tear and an honest to goodness tug at my heart. Great book.
