Good question! It depends on what you're looking for. Books I've enjoyed recently include Michael Bader's "Arousal", Brett Kahr's "Who's Been Sleeping in Your Head", and Jack Morin's "The Erotic Mind" - these aren't super new, but all three are about sexual fantasy from a psychological perspective. Also Jesse Bering's "Perv", Marty Klein's "Sexual Intelligence", Tristan Taormino's "Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships"

Patrick | 10 comments I've read Arousal, Perv, and Opening Up, and I'd be happy to discuss any one of them. Is there one in particular you'd like to discuss first (in a separate discussion, I think).

Otherwise, for the other three, is there one in particular you'd recommend reading most strongly, and why?

Patrick | 10 comments To give my own half dozen recommendations: I just finished reading Florence Williams' Breasts, which is a (pop) science book which starts off by looking at the function of breasts, which is not (mainly) to attract males, and covers the immunologic benefits of nursing, and the downsides of such when we are awash in estrogen-mimicking plastics, the related topics of the pill and hormone replacement therapy, and the changes in the breasts due to aging.
Pamela Haag's Marriage Confidential is about dissatisfaction with the institution of monogamous marriage, and how people deal with that, including cheating and non-monogamy.
Eric Anderson's the Monogamy Gap is a gay man's critique of monogamy; it's a very different way of looking at cheating.
David Ley's Insatiable wives is a survey of sorts of different couples engaging in the hotwife/cuckold lifestyle.
Katherine Frank's Plays Well In Groups likewise examines group sex in a variety of different contexts.
And Suzy Spencer's Secret Sex Lives; a very sexually repressed investigator immerses herself in the hidden worlds of sex in the U.S.

Cool! I haven't read any of the ones in your second post. I'd be interested to hear thoughts on Arousal. I'm in the process of writing an article on sexual fantasy and its usefulness in a therapeutic setting. This discussion thread is timely, because I'm trying to get back into that zone. It's been a little while since I read the book.
