Luke (korrick) I'm looking forward to her The Gate of Angels.

Kris (krisrabberman) Wrong Penelope!

message 4: by Luke (new)

Luke (korrick) Whoops. In that case, I'm looking forward to maybe adding something of hers.

Kris (krisrabberman) The Pumpkin Eater is wonderful -- hoping that some group members discover it this year.

message 6: by Paul (new)

Paul (booksdofurnisharoom) I've just read The Pumpkin Eater and as Kris says, it is wonderful.

Russell | 44 comments I have the Pumpkin Eater etched in for 2015 already, so I'd be in for that. I also just picked up The Home, which is supposedly a sequel of sorts, and could probably read that too.

Kris (krisrabberman) I like the idea of a joint The Pumpkin Eater/The Home read. Anyone else interested along with Russell and me?

Pumpkin Eater is wonderful.

The Home seems like it may be out of print? Will look into it as "a sequel of sorts" to TPE is definitely of interest.

I've had my eye on Daddy's Gone-A-Hunting, too, which looks great.

Russell | 44 comments Daddy's Gone-A-Hunting also sounds great. I picked up my copy of The Home recently at a 2nd-hand bookstore I frequent near my house, and tbh I'd never seen it in any other store before. I can see a few 2nd-hand copies around the place online, but it does look out of print. I must have gotten lucky.

Definitely doesn't mean we can't locate copies from our libraries... but it could make organizing a group read of it a bit ore difficult - was my only point.

Seems The Home has met with disappointment (from the few reviews of it I can see here on GR and elsewhere) from fans of The Pumpkin Eater, whereas Daddy's... has received more praise. Perhaps this accounts for the out-of-print status, although who knows given the publishing world climate in this day and age!

Kris (krisrabberman) I'd be interested in Daddy's ... as well.

My Friend Says It's Bullet-Proof also looks good. Ordered a copy for a dollar.
