wild~rose (wild-rose) | 64 comments Reading friends,

I'm trying to remember the name of a book and can't. Google searches have yielded nothing because my description is probably too vague. I'm quite sure I've seen it mentioned here. From what I recall it's set in the 70s at Cambridge University and is a modern retelling of the Mabinogion. I believe it's a one-word title.

Does anyone know what book I'm referring to?

wild~rose (wild-rose) | 64 comments Ok, I can answer my own question thanks to a look at an old tbr list. The book is Tam Lin by Pamela Dean.

I did not reply before because you said Cambridge university but I agree with Kathy Tam Lin is a great book.

Thanks, yes, I got the university wrong. For some reason I thought it was set in the UK. Perhaps because it focuses on a Scottish ballad.

It is the type of book at it starts very slow and very realistic but by the time I finished I was like wow and immediately reread it!

Two other great books that take place in the 70s and are involving supernatuinal things at a university are Waking the Moon and Memory and Dream

I still need to read Tam Lin! I keep thinking it will win a nomination in this group but it hasn't yet.
