We learn the true reason for Nicholas’ return to London. Should he have known his sister Anne would not take Ji in?

Jo Ann (jojog) | 72 comments I was surprised he didn't go to Katherine first.

I tried to put myself into the mindset of someone in that era to figure out his reasoning. There wasn’t a scenario that included this horrid woman. He’d hit rock bottom if he thought she was his only option.

I figured he didn’t go to Katherine because he didn’t know of her feelings. Once he saw her reaction to him, he knew she was a possibility.

Joanna | 139 comments I didn't think he would have asked Katherine because of her husband. He already knew what little regard he'd had about her first child. I also wouldn't have thought he would approach his sister knowing her feelings towards him. It would be like Sebastian asking his sister to take in Simon.

Oh, that’s a great analogy, Joanna! That would be insane.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments I think most people believe their relatives will put aside their hate when a child is involved. Nicholas changed so much over the past 18 years, I can see him thinking Anne would do the same.

Katherine wasn't an option in the beginning because of his fear that her husband or father would hurt Ji.
