God, I missed Angie's writing style. Reminds me of one of the many reasons why I loved The Hate U Give!

Hahahah reminds me of when my mom said I could sing decently and I finally gathered the courage to record myself. And when I listened back to it I sounded like a cat getting strangled in an alley xD

"He also moved back home this summer. He couldn't find a decent job, and as of three weeks ago, he makes pizza for minimum wage."
And Bri's brother even graduated with honors. I'm wondering if him not being able to find a job has to do with his ethnicity. I know for a fact that here in the Netherlands people tend to get hired less quickly if they have a non-Western name. It's quite sad, really. (hide spoiler)]

Hahhaah I agree, also about the fact about the Netherlands and hiring. I think they did some experiments with sending the same CV and motivation letter and changing the names.

No no it’s ok. I haven’t started because I’ve been getting a lot of homework lately. I think I’m going to start on Friday and I’ll catch up.

Sorry I fell behind. ;_; I've been having things going on and I can't sleep, lol. My goal is to join the discussion sometime today!

I caught up to the chapters! I just haven’t had the time to discuss!

(view spoiler)[So, I don't know if either of you had a problem with this, but I'm a little confused with Jay. Because she's referred to as "Jay" by Bri, I thought they were sisters at first. But then they were talking about Aunt Pooh and I think I just glossed over it saying that Jay is her mom. If I'm wrong please let me know, lol.

Also, I think it will be really interesting to see what comes of Milez's manager and how/if he becomes a bigger part in the story because of Brianna's dad's partnership with him.

Lastly, I have to admit that I'm not crazy about books with premises like this where the main character loves rapping or poetry or so on. It's kind of hard for me to get into, so it'll be interesting to see how this goes on. I really enjoyed The Hate U Give (and I highly recommend the movie if you haven't seen it!!), so I can't wait to get back into that world!

Jay is her mom indeed. I think later in the book it is explained why she calls her mom Jay and not mom
