London Streets

Emma ran on the rooftops, her glamour rune helping her avoid the eye of mundanes. She was rushing to the Institute so that she could Portal to New York; she had spent a late night chatting by phone with Mina in Hyde Park. As she pounded to the dining hall where the portal was, she ran into James. "Where are you going?" he asked with a smirk. "I'm sorry. I'm visiting Izzy in New York. See you in a couple days!" She kissed him lightly on the cheek, grabbed her travel bag from where she had left it, and bounded through the Portal she had made the day before.

Tangi was enjoying a thermos of tea (because tea is the obviously superior drink thank you very much) and people watching. The brisk London air tugged at his coat and he took a sip of his hot peppermint tea, grateful that no one had been using the microwave at the office.

Allegra came out of the coffee shop, eagerly sipping her coffee since the temperature didn’t bother her since she got her powers. Her eyes, every so often flickered with lightning which happened when she got nervous.
Nobody, not even S.H.I.E.L.D had come looking for her. She guessed they wouldn’t have thought of her going to London to get away.
She looked around nervously above the top of her lid, trying to not look suspicious. Her hands started to shake a little as she thought of all the things that could go wrong.

As Tangi clocked the Londoners passing by- a mother and her three children (poor soul), a couple on a date wearing matching band t-shirts (how swee- oh wait it's Nickelback nevermind) and a group of children with a dog (hey there little pupper!) his attention fixed on Allegra. She had just stepped out of a coffee shop (ew) and looked a bit frightened.
If I just walk up and talk to her I'll look like a creep, he mused, but what if she's in danger?

Allegra had the feeling of being watched behind her. She quickly turned and walked the other way. Her powers were slowly getting out of control. She could hear the thunder rumbling in the distance. She slowly inhaled and exhaled, and the sounds went away. She sat down at an empty table. and pulled out her phone. (She made it so nobody could track her.) She began scrolling or pretending too, while she scanned the crowds for whoever could be watching her. Her eyes landed on a pair of green eyes, eagerly watching her.

Tangi watched the girl scroll on her phone. She seemed to have relaxed, so he brushed it off and continued scanning the crowds and sipping his tea. Eventually, his eyes returned to Allegra.
Still there huh? God I'm such a snoop but I feel like she's watching me...
He sipped his tea slowly as the cold air ripped through his jacket and he shivered.

Allegra closed her eyes for a second and used her powers to make it start raining, right over the guy. She smirked a little, and got up from the table and tried to discreetly walk away.
Geez. She thought to herself. Wonder what his deal is. Doesn't look like the kind from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Tangi spat and screwed the lid on his thermos. "Dammit," he cursed, slipping the thermos into his satchel. {{is it raining only over Tangi bc he would notice that}}

Allegra looked back hoping he wasnt following her. She saw him drenched and obviously angry. Her smile grew wider the farther away she went. She increased the downpour until the streets were starting to flood. She turned down an alley, her socks starting to get wet from the rain, and began waiting for a chance to strike.

Tangi kicked his feet up in a hapless effort to get rain out of his shoes. In order to escape the torrential downpour, he ducked into an alley that offered minimal protection and began fumbling for his umbrella. His curly red hair was thoroughly soaked and plastered to his face in bright coppery rings.

Allegra inhaled too fast and nearly started coughing in front of him. She stood as still as she could trying to not attract his attention. She started slowly sliding down to the other edge of the alley. She was nearly out of her predicament when her shoe squeaked. She cursed inside her head, and was tempted to throw her shoes at him,

Tangi whipped around, holding his umbrella out like a sword, arms shaking. "Who's there?? I warn you, I'm armed," he lied.

Allegra snorted, obviously knowing he was lying. "Relax, you chicken, I'm not going to hurt you, unless you try to hurt me. Now, why were you watching me?"

"Be-because you looked worried!" Tangi shrugged violently and held his umbrella over his head. "And then it started raining even though the forecast was a 0% chance of rain an- that doesn't make sense does it??" He shook his head. "Look, I'm sorry for following you, I just thought you were a m-" he began, cutting himself off at the last second. "Wait, forget I said that."

"No," Allegra said, fiercly. "Tell me what you were going to say. You already rambled enough in less than a minute. Plus, I have no idea who you are, so I won't count it against you." That was the opposite of what she was thinking, but she didnt want to make a terrible first impression.

"I... thought you might be... well there's not really a word for it I don't think but uh..." Tangi rubbed the back of his neck. "Magic? I guess that's the word but I think it's a bit crude..."

Allegra clutched her hands to get them to stop shaking. She cleared her throat so that wouldn't shake also. "You're kidding right?" She scoffed, to add some effect. "There's no such thing as magic. Sure, there might be people with red metal suits, robots, trained assassins, and a god from Asgard who has a mighty hammer. Whatever. That's not magic. Just because it's raining doesn't mean it's magic." She hoped this guy couldn't see right through her.

"But the forecast-" Tangi began. The girl seemed tense. "Look, I'm sorry for bothering you miss. If you say it's not magic I believe you. Although I can't help but notice what a big coincidence would need to take place for this to make sense. Nonetheless, I apologize."

Allegra relaxed. So he isn't from SHIELD. She thought to herself. "I'm Allegra, by the way." She didnt offer her hand, but stayed arms distance away from him, just in case he had a few tricks up his sleeve still.

"Tangi," he replied, tugging his jacket closer to him. "Who were you looking for?" he asked, resisting the urge to kick up a puddle.

"What?" Allegra asked started, immediately tensing up again. "W-who said I was looking for anyone?" Did he know something she didnt?

"O-oh, I just mean earlier- you know what, ignore that. That was a dumb thing to say," he apologized, covering his mouth with his hand. "I'm bad at- people. I grew up on a farm, I only had to socialize with my family and close friends. I'm just not-" he waved his hands vaguely, "social?"

“I know what you mean.” She said quietly. She looked up at the sky and it slowly stopped raining. She wiped her wet hair out of her face. In all honestly, she had no idea what it was like to be far away from other people. She grew up in a big city and constantly talked. She just didn’t want him to know. “So, what are you doing in London?”

"I recently moved here. Bought an apartment with my fiancee, right across the way," he pointed at the middle of one of the taller buildings. "Just about there. But you're not from around here are you?" he asked.

She smiled a little. "Well, congrats about you and your fiancee." She looked towards the building where he pointed. She couldn't help but marvel at it for a second before talking to Tangi again. "Yeah," She said. "How could you tell?"

"Accent," he remarked flatly. "But even then, you've got this look about you when you look at things. As if it's not the same drab, grey city it's always been. What's the word I'm looking for?... Ah- Marvel!"


{{name drop lmao. also, the accent thing could either be referring to her American accent or saying her fake British accent is bad. either way works.}}

"Alright, yeah, so my American accent totally gives me away. I forgot I wasn't in the U.S. still." She laughs a little, trying not to be so awkward. "Where are you headed?" She asked, beginning to walk back out on the street.

"I've got a job interview down the street. An indie game called Wonderport. It seems promising," he shrugged, keeping pace with her. "What about you?"

"Just visiting. My..mom was going to come to London for a business trip but it ended up being cancelled so she gave the ticket to me." Her lie rolled easily off her tongue. She looked around like she was admiring the city.

"How nice of her," Tangi replied. "Well, this is my stop. But feel free to call me if you ever get lost or need help," he offered, gesturing at a dingy but charming building before jotting down his number on a slip of paper and handing it to her. "But if you give that out I'll have you arrested for disturbing the peace," he joked.

Allegra slipped the piece of paper into her pocket. "Well, thanks." She laughed lightly. "If I give this away, I think you'll have to find me to have me arrested." She was half-joking half-not. As soon as she said it, her face flared up. She would've done anything to take that back.

Tangi didn't notice. "Have fun!" he called, waving to her as he entered the building. "And wish me luck!"

{[this is really nice actually. i know nothing superhero or magical happened, but it was nice. i hope a normal conversation (with a not-so-normal beginning) was refreshing for Allegra (and you) and not just boring.}}

She smiled and waved back. "Good luck!" She took out her phone and entered his number and his name into her contacts.

((what should happen next? LIke the plot?))

{{idk but maybe allegra goes on how she normally would, but the next time something happens to her, she calls tangi out of panic and tangi's just like "whoops time to save my new friend i guess"}}
