It is a busy street. People rushing from here to there. The tall buildings look as if they go into the sky and never end. This is a place were action happens.

Evelyn was trying not to look in a rush, if she was late again.....she did not want to be late again. She got an alert on her watch for a meeting in Avengers tower, in the middle if math class. She quietly snuck out of school, being careful not to get caught. She got another alert on her watch as she was walking on the street. She looked down to check the message and she bumped into someone.

"Sneaking out again are we?" Smiled Carter.
Carter was visiting the Avengers tower and was away from the Xavier Institute. He had to come to New York because Captain America asked for his presence.
He looked at Evelyn, "Well? What's our excuse this time?"

Suddenly, Carter's phone buzzed. It was a voicemail message. "Hey Carter! It's Emma. You know, Emma Herondale. Anyways, I heard that you were in New York. I was going to visit my friend, Izzy Lightwood, here anyways, so do you think we could meet up? I know you're busy with the whole 'hero' thing, but since all the things after the Mortal War, and Annabelle Blackthorn, there's been less trouble, although Magnus and Alec did have a little trouble with that pesky demon-worshiping cult. Anyways, you think I could meet up with you and your hero friends sometime? Give me a call if you think I can!"

Queen Jenna the III wrote: "Suddenly, Carter's phone buzzed. It was a voicemail message. "Hey Carter! It's Emma. You know, Emma Herondale. Anyways, I heard that you were in New York. I was going to visit my friend, Izzy Light..."

Carter looked at the voicemail. And smiled. It was Emma Herondale. He decide to give her a quick call.
"One moment" he told Evelyn
And he waited for Emma to pick up. In his mind he started to plan his day.

"Hey Carter!" her breathless voice answered. "Sorry; I'm in kind of a sticky situation right now; I spotted a ravener demon on the way to a cafe for lunch, so I went after it, but then I realized that I'd left my whip at home, so I grabbed a seraph blade from my bag, but by then the demon was already gone, so I followed the stench of death and now I'm sort of in the middle of a battle with 4 ravener demons. I mean, three are gone, but the ichor is starting to burn, and . . . thank the Angel. That last one's killed. My reflexes aren't as sharp when I'm running on two hours off sleep, but I applied an energy rune, so I should have been fine. Anyways, I'm on my way back to the Institute now; what were you going to say?"

"Its a major family emergency. Steve will be mad if I'm late again, Captain's orders." Evelyn quickly said (with a small salute)

Ravenger demon!! What were they doing in New York? Carter made a not to look into this before he left.

"I'm staying at the Avengers tower. You are welcome to come if you want. I'm talking with Evelyn. She is skiping school for . . . On Captain's orders. We are both going to go to the tower, would you like to join? It would be great to catch up."

Carter nodded, "Captain's order? Ok. Well I'm heading to the Tower right now. Captain also asked for me in the city. I just got something to eat. I believe that we should start heading to the tower."

Carter straightened his spine and started walking. He turned around to where Evelyn was still standing.

"You coming?" he asked

"Yeah, lets go. I'm late anyway" Evelyn replied and they headed into the Tower.

we could either head to the Lab or Kitchen, which one should we do?

Emma pounded down the street, tears streaking down her face. She grabbed her electrum whip from her travel bag and grabbed her backup Sensor. She followed the beeps of the Sensor and made her way to a dark alleyway where two ravener demons were waiting to pounce. She scaled the building beside, grabbed a seraph blade, and jumped. "Ithuriel," she said in mid-air, and the seraph blade lit up with an angelic glow. She fell on top of on of the ravener demons, and stabbed Ithuriel into the ravener demon's back. Black ichor spurted up, but Emma didn't care. Then, she flicked her wrist, and her swiftly dismembered the other ravener demon. She quickly applied an iratze, and walked away from the demons she had killed.

"Not that you need help" said Carter after seeing her kill the ravengers demons "I'm just here to make sure you do anything stupid."
Carter floated down from the roof and landed gently on the floor,

"I never do anything stupid." Emma said with a growl. "I'm good at killing demons. That's all that I need. Why are you here?"

"To make sure nothing broke and nobody saw you." Evelyn said as she stepped out from the shadows
" We need to get these demons bodies out of here, I don't want my "family" to find out any of us were here. Especially the Demons

"I had a glamour on the entire time; no mundanes without the Sight would be able to see. Plus, who cares if anything breaks? Not Shadowhunters. Our purpose in life is to protect them from demons, not clean up for them. And you know demons disappear back into the Void once they've been killed, and they leave no remnants behind. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go pick a fight with Jace; I need a good battle." Emma stormed off.

"you'll need back up, I know you don't like us helping but these things are dangerous" Evelyn said "The more damage we do, the more attention we draw to ourselves, that means people, press and possibly questions."

Emma whirled around. "If I need backup, I call the Enclave, not a group of mundanes. And a bunch of ravener demons aren't dangerous; I could kill them in my sleep. Besides, the kill was clean, and no damage was done." She paused. "You know what? I think I'll talk to your boss and tell him to stop interfering with demons and other non-mundane stuff. What's his name? Right. Tony Stark. Bye." She took off like a shot back towards the Avengers Tower.

The smell of ozone tainted the air. Carter sighed, "Well We are coming with you whether you like it or not".

There was a sudden crash in the street. 3 ravengers appeared. Carter spun around. He had been itching for a fight since he left the X-Mansion.
Carter gave the first ravenger a blast electric blast combined with a light beam. Black ichor exploded everywhere.
Carter gave the second revenger a thermal blast with the wave of his had. Huge heat wave rolled down the street and melted the ravenger on the spont. A puddle of Black ichor was seen slowly disappearing.
The third was a little harder. The Ravenger jumped at Carter, clearly not happy about what he had done to its friends, Carter froze the Ravenger in mid-air by taking all kinetic energy out of the jump and turning it into potential energy. He then lashed back with a 2 sound blasts. One to knock it back and another to make it spontaneously combust. Black Ichor went everywhere.

3 of his 10 energy based powers. Potential energy and Kinetic energy. Potential energy allowed him to take away energy, while kinetic aloud him to give energy in different forms like Chemical, Nuclear, Gravitational, electrical, sound, mechanical, Radiant, and elastic energy.

"No no no no, She can not tell Stark. Uggg, I'll be double grounded. The joys of having a super "dad". Evelyn said. (she threw her hand toward Emma sending a purple lightning blast on her)

Emma had paused to watch the fight, but seeing the blast, she jumped into the air, flipped around, and sent a misericord rushing towards Evelyn's arm. Evelyn doubled over and howled. Emma immediately turned towards Carter. "Bu- . . . wha- . . . how? Only seraphically aligned weapons can kill demons. I need to report this to the Clave immediately." She took out her phone and dialed a number. "Hi Jace! . . Yeah, I know you and Clary are busy . . . no, that's great! Good for you guys . . . I called 'cause some mutant mundane just killed three ravener demons with straight energy . . . Jace, I'm not joking, no . . . could you report it to the Clave? . . . Thanks. . . Alright. See you guys soon." She hung up. "What the heck did you just do, Carter?" she asked herself quietly, then started Marking her arms.

"He used his energy blast, 3 of his 10 Super powers." Evelyn said

"Pure energy can be deadly to anything" said Carter "I see the energy in everything. It gets annoying some times. I can see the energy that Evelyn has from her powers and I can see the energy coming off of your swords Emma. I can make or copy any energy and use it using the 10 basic ones. Also I can take away energy and give it back. There must be balance in powers."

Carter smiled, then stumbled a little "Sorry I have not done that many types of energy in a short period of time in a while. I really must practice that." He made a mental note.

"Lets head to the training area, Carter, you need to learn how to use your powers without loosing energy, if you don't you might push your self too hard and that's not good for any of us. Evelyn said

"Carter; I'm going to need to take you to the Institute; Jace'll know what to do."

"Where is the Institute'?

"With all respect I can't be in be in two places at once. So it is the Institute or the training area at the tower. We need to be all in agreement. Also I don't like to use Nuclear energy. I used it once and it did not end well for . . . everyone." said Carter.
"I think we head to the area then to the Institute".

"Does the Institute have a training area?" Evelyn asked

"Fine. But don't try to run; I've informed the Enclave about you, and I'm not afraid to call them." Emma said with a glare. "By the way, I will also be informing Tony Stark; mundanes should not interfere with Shadowhunter buisness."

Please don't tell my "dad". I If I get him mad again, I won't be able to leave the building, then I get a whole week of Boot Camp with Steve and Natasha. Oh, the joys of having a super team family.
I promise I won't run, you won't even know I'm there. I have invisibility so its the truth." Evelyn said

"Mundanes. They think we can't see through glamours." Emma said to herself. "Evelyn, dear, you realize that, as a Shadowhunter, I can see through all glamours, correct?" Emma said to Evelyn. And you tried to interfere in my demon hunting; I don't know who Steve and Natasha are, but I'm sure boot camp would do you worlds of good."

"Please, they never let me go anywhere or do anything other than train, study and sleep. I will do exactly as you say."

"I'm 18. I enjoy a good bit of fun. Heck, I enjoy a lot of fun, and begging is awesome, but I am a high and mighty Shadowhunter, and we used to walk like giants on the earth. You mundanes need a little obedience and training. I'm sure it'll be great! Besides; everyone always pays attention to James, not me, so it's nice to have a little power for once." Emma said with a wicked grin.

" I get it, you like to have the power ,but why not take it out on Carter, he is more human than I am." Evelyn said

The next comment is in a different part of New York Downtown.

It involves actual puzzle elements. i.e., Do something clever to save the people. And there will be causalities if you do not do anything clever. Really anything clever would be fine.

The building was already up in flames by the time they arrived. There were approximately 20 floors and screams for help could be heard from many of them. A lot of people had in desperation found their way to the top of the building. This was a very hot afternoon. The temperature was only going to go up from here.

A hospital was very near to this building and thus they had sent ambulances. Fire department was made aware of this. But they would still take time to get here. This building was very far from the nearest Fire Department.

A lot of people were standing outside. Some of them were covered in shawls. Some shawls on the ground were still smoking. A lot of brave people were down here. It was either that or that these people were desperate and walked through literal flames.

They were somewhat livened up when they saw Evelyn. Carter was the last to appear on the scene after Emma. They quickly made a plan to save everyone on the top first and then to look for knocked out peoples and stuck people.

"If I can get get the smoke out, Carter, can you dim the energy of the flames, and Emma, get everyone else out. Hurry!" Evelyn said

Just as they were exciting the plan, "BANG". An explosion came from somewhere in the distance. All heads were turned to the direction of the sound. First silence and then a huge fireball erupted into the sky. Shouts and screams filled the air. It was total chaos. The teens couldn't do everything at once, then a voice came from behind them.

Emma was standing 20 feet away from Evelyn, but could still hear her perfectly. "Why do mundanes with the Sight always have Shadowhunters do things for the-" Emma was interrupted by a different voice.
"Shadowhunter, hm? Good ransom. You're coming with me." Emma immediately spun into action, grabbing her whip and running away from the general direction of the voice. She could hear someone pursuing her. She immediately turned around and saw a teenage boy walking on the street, headphones in, singing some sort of off-pitch song. Emma wrapped her whip around the "boy"'s body and squeezed. "Eidolon demon." Emma whispered, before grabbing a seraph blade, naming it, and plunging it into the demon's body. Emma immediately ran back towards the fire to tell Evelyn, but realized she would have to save some of the mundanes in the building. She put on a fire-resistance runes and started climbing to the top of the building, where she found a group of five people huddled together, encircled by flames. She grabbed the two most injured ones and started climbing down, dropping them about 7 feet from the bottom. She continued the process until all five were safe, and then checked the rest of the levels, which were clear of mundanes. As she exited the fiery building, she put a glamour on herself, and looked around for Evelyn. Evelyn was nowhere to be found.

" Hello? Is anybody in here!" Evelyn coughed out trying to see through the smoke. "Hello?" She thought she could hear a voice calling, but she couldn't hear anything over the blaring sirens and the screaming. "If anyone is left, I'm here to help." Evelyn heard a crash from the hallway, carefully she avoided the flames to get through. Another crash came, and then another. "Hello, is anybody there."
"I think someone is" called a raspy voice "And I think you might need some help"
Evelyn was knocked down by some heavy force, she felt huge hands grab her and felt her hands being tied up. She tried to scream for help but no sound came out. Evelyn tried to fight back but was thrown against the wall, the last thing she saw was a man's face. A man's face with a scar. With that, they disappeared into the night leaving nothing behind.

Emma searched the entire crowd for Evelyn, but could find her nowhere. She put on a tracker rune and grabbed the ring Evelyn had given her. As she began to track, her world spun around, and then went black.

When she woke up, Emma was in a dark room. Her wrists, legs, and torso were bound to a chair. She was also gagged. As she looked around, her night vision slowly adjusted, and she saw her stele, her whip, and the bag that she always carried with her supplies on the opposite side of the room. As she started trying to break free of her bonds, she realized that they were made of electrum, the same material as her whip. Suddenly, the room was flooded with light, and a man with a scar running across half of his face came in. Emma struggled against her bonds, and the man laughed.
"Isn't it so funny that the Nephilim, those who once walked like giants among the earth, can be reduced to nothing but scared prisoners?" the man growled. He pulled the gag out of Emma's mouth. "Speak, little Nephilim."
Emma growled. "I am a Nephilim, and the blood of the Angel Raziel runs through my veins. You should not treat one with the Angels as scum, or you will face the wrath of the Angel himself." The man guffawed.
"Shadowhunters. They're always so full of themselves. How would you feel about this?" Another man walked in, carrying Evelyn knocked out, bound, and gagged over his shoulder.

Evelyn slowly stirred. Though her mind was still foggy she could make out the shape of a person sitting down. No, not sitting down, tied up. The harder she looked at the person, she noticed that it was Emma! Evelyn tried to call out to her but nothing came out. She had a gag on. (No, this isn't happening, this isn't happening, Evelyn thought) She squirmed and fell to the ground. she tried to get on her feet but she quickly realized she was tied. Evelyn tried to find enough strength to use her powers but she couldn't. Suddenly she felt a sharp zap and she was out again. When she woke she was tied to a hard metal chair. From the look of the "walls" she was in a cage type dome. Evelyn could hear a faint conversation. She listened closer and heard Emma talking to someone.

In a different room, Emma was yelling at the man with the scar on his face.
"The blood of the Angel Raziel runs through my veins, and I will not withstand this treatment. And let my mundane friend go. You, mundane, are of a little importance to me as a-" The man interrupted her.
"Ah. You see that, little Nephilim, is where you are wrong. I am no mundane."
"But you are no warlock, nor do you have such a temper as a werewolf. You most certainly are not of the Seelie nor Unseelie court, and you are not dead. The scent of death does not follow you like that of an Eidolon demon. So, therefore, you must be mundane."
"My dear little Nephilim. I am something that you have never seen before. And I can make you scream."
There was a pause, and then the sound of a girl screaming penetrated the silence.

Evelyn could feel sharp zaps of energy shaking her body, it felt as if a thousand bees were stinging her. Just as it started it ended. Then it started back up again only harder with more zaps. She couldn't hold in the pain, but she wouldn't give her enemy get the satisfaction of her scream. Evelyn thought she heard someone, but they were just shouting out numbers. Then the scream came, it was like being hit by semi-truck at full speed and then a bolt of lightning after, but it never ended. She felt pain one second and then nothing but cold darkness.

Carter looked from behind the corner. The man. He could feel the energy pulsing through that man. He looked at Evelyn and Emma. He caught there gaze. He was now sneaking up on the man, he did not what to do it, but his feet had other plans. He jumped on the man and started to drain the kinetic energy from him. He then used gravitational energy to force him up and throw him across the room. He ran across the room to Evelyn and Emma. And cut the ropes. The man started to stir across the room Carter shot him with a electric blast.
"Time to go" Said Carter

Evelyn recognized Carter's voice but couldn't find where it was coming from. She heard Emma's voice too, "where were they". Evelyn tried to move but every limb hurt. As much as she willed her legs to get up and lead far away from this place, they didn't listen. She felt tired, powerless, maybe just a little nap to...........*.NO, stay awake, don't let the darkness consume you, fight it, fight it. *(*= interior monologue) As much as she wanted to get out of there she couldn't do it herself.
