Who would you cast in a theoretical movie based on this book? As I was reading, I kept seeing Michael Caine as Julian, and maybe Mayim Bialik as Monica. Who would you pick?

Michael Caine is a great pick! I kind of saw Dustin Hoffman as Julian and Shailene Woodley as Monica. Not sure about the rest, although Hazard made me think of a young Kevin Bacon
