I've decided to take on Vancouver for my first ever attempt at Mount TBR, although ideally I would like to be able to jump to Mount Ararat at some point through the year. I have made a promise to myself (and my beloved) that I will not buy myself another book until a good chunk of the ones I already own have been read, so there is my motivation! The books I have chosen for my challenge are about to be shelved.

Thank you! I think the book buying pact will only become a real problem if the Winds of Winter is released this year... :)
Last night I finished the book I was reading and have made a start on my first book for my climb up Vancouver. It is A Dance with Dragons: After the Feast by George RR Martin, which has been on my list for around 8 months.
All done with A Dance with Dragons, so I'm now moving on to Ace, King, Knave by Maria McCann. I bought this book last September on a whim- I was at an author event at my local bookshop, and sadly the featured author didn't arrive. I didn't want to go home empty handed- who would?
Just checking in to update my Mount TBR progress, which is actually going very well! :) I've finished Ace, King, Knave, made an attempt at The King's Curse which I was given for Christmas (this was actually a DNF, but I am counting it because I made it more than 50% through before putting it down). I also read The 100 Most Pointless Things in the World, which I have owned for around 18 months. I am now reading a non-fiction book about Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Cesare Borgia called The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior: The Intersecting Lives of Da Vinci, Machiavelli, and Borgia and the World They Shaped, which was a present from a friend back in 2012. So far, it is a very interesting read.
Another check in: I am still reading The Artist... . It became a little overwhelming, but I plan to go back to it so I am not DNFing. For my challenge I have listened to my last Hitchhiker's Guide audiobooks, which I have owned since 2012; as well as reading Mistress of Rome which I bought last year, And Another Thing... which I have had since 2011(ish), I Married the Duke which I have had since 2013, and a reread of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as it complied with the Mount TBR rules (the book was bought as a gift, specifically to reread it).
Hello! Well, my first year taking part in Mount TBR has gone ok, but not great- I've managed 30 books.
The year was much more hectic than I imagined it was going to be. I had a surprise trip to Rome, got engaged and married to my partner of six years, and read a lot more for my uni courses than I thought I'd have to. Not hitting my target is a little disappointing but I'm going to try again for the same target in 2016.
Who cares about Mount TBR with all the excitement you had in your life! Congratulations on your marriage!
