In A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World, most humans have lost the ability to reproduce and have died out. Griz, his family and two dogs are among the remaining. They live on the Hebrides Islands off the western coast of Scotland. They are self sufficient and fending for themselves until a trader arrives and steals his dog. Griz sets off to retrieve her

"And those that remain are still with us now, here at the end of the world. And there may be no law left except what you make it, but if you steal my dog, you can at least expect me to come after you. If we’re not loyal to the things we love, what’s the point? That’s like not having a memory. That’s when we stop being human."

I loved this adventure tale about Griz. It is a bit of a Perils of Pauline, because while the reader is not sure what is going to happen next, for sure something is going to happen with a few monkey wrenches throw in for good measure.

I am not sure that this is the right kind of book to read in the middle of a pandemic, but I did enjoy it.
