Aleta | 53 comments Constantly finding new books to add to my already very lengthy TBR is a major addiction of mine and I'd love to hear what Westerns are on your TBR!
I'm trying to get to some more Westerns than just the groupreads this month, to hopefully get a good sense of what the genre is like and reduce that list just a tad ;)

I'm pretty sure I'll be reading Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier as it's been on my shelf for ages and am also hoping to get around to the more comic The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt, if the library system starts working again.

Are you planning on reading some non-BOTM westerns this month or are there some you just think look amazing and would love to get around to one day?

Brianna Andreda I actually started reading The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt but I was super confused plus I was reading another book at the time so I was paying less attention to it. I think I may pick it back up and try to read it again.

Aleta | 53 comments I've seen very different reviews on it and I've come to think it's one I'll want to read only when I've read a few "standard" works of the genre. I have this idea that it makes fun of other Westerns a bit, but that may just be imagined.

Aleta | 53 comments Hmm... Just abandoned The Sisters Brothers. I don't abandon books lightly, but when they feel this irrelevant, uninteresting and just like a complete waste of time and/or are newer books and/or dark and/or gory, who cares. Too many great books I've yet to read to spend time on something this bad. The writing style was okay, but the story felt extremely unoriginal and pointless.

Brianna, I didn't find it confusing, but did find it lacked focus and I don't think you're missing much - I almost made it halfway and it still didn't feel like a proper story or anything insightful.

Shomeret | 76 comments My favorite Western author is Win Blevins, but I've only read one book by him called The Rock Childwhich I thought was amazing. It was re-published on Kindle as Of Love and Demons I want to read more by him particularly Stone Song which is a novel about Crazy Horse.

Aleta | 53 comments The Rock Child sounds very different and interesting, Stone Song sounds even more interesting to me though! I hope you get around to reading it :)

I made a thread for recommending Westerns already read - the ones there I'll put on the group's bookshelf under "recommended-by-explorers" at the end of the month, in case you want to recommend The Rock Child :)
