Kandice I have always been fascinated with the idea that she wrote The Heart... when she was so young. It's heartbreakingly beautiful and has such wisdom between the pages.

Marlise (mawz76) | 171 comments I agree Kandice. I intend to read some of her other works at some point. But it was a beautiful book indeed.

Uniquely beautiful not only in the story, but also the precise words, phrases, sentences. Infinitely quotable.

There are so many books I absolutely love, but would be hard pressed to find even one sentence that was quote worthy, but this one is littered with them.

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 141 comments I recommend The Member of the Wedding. I also really enjoyed The Ballad of the Sad Café and Other Stories, but it's interesting for reasons somewhat different than the other two, I think, and may not be as broadly appealing (or it may be that it takes the same theme but exaggerates it to an extent that it may turn some people off). It's still worthwhile though. I've got two of her later novels on my shelves too, but I haven't gotten around to them yet
