How did you feel about Henny staying behind at the Pine Away Motel at the end of the story? Did it strike you as sad? What did you think of the ending? What do you think happens to Henny after the story ends? Does she stay in Pine Creek? Does she move on?

The whole story reminded me of a well-written obituary. The major difference is that the deceased is able to comment--Henny filled in details for the readers. Her friends and loved ones remembered her good qualities with appreciation and were inspired to do good, as she would. The three friends felt fortunate to have been loved by Henny. They put her picture up in the motel office and the new sign said Henny was here!

That's very interesting. I like that comparison.
