Thanks for a great discussion on the video call! 💕 We covered a lot of ground and talked about the topic from many different angles. In this thread you can add any extra thoughts and reflections you might have on the discussion as well as any further reading - like some of the texts mentioned on the call - that you have to share or recommend.

Marlous | 2 comments The texts I mentioned during the video call.
- In regard to the either/or thinking, linked to Western feminism: bell hooks, Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center (Boston, Ma.: South End Press, 1984).
- Concerning moving "between and among" different oppositional ways of seeing things: Chela Sandoval, Methodology of the Oppressed (Minneapolis & London: University of Minnesota Press, 2000).
- Other texts by Freeman which I referred to: Jo Freeman, ‘The Tyranny of Stuctureless’ . [For some reason the link does not seem to be visible, but you can find this article on JoFreeman.com] Jo Freeman, The Politics of Women’s Liberation (New York & London: Longman, 1975).

[It is VERY long for a YouTube video, Jo Freeman is mentioned near the end.]

Thank you so much for these recs! I watched the YouTube video yesterday (in chunks 😂) and it's such a nuanced, insightful take on contemporary internet and popular culture. Like she points out, I've definitely often thought that blaming legitimate criticism on "cancel" or "victim" culture (in Denmark the term "krænkelseskultur" is popular) was mostly a weapon used by those already in power to try to silence the voices of people who speak up on whatever topic. But on the internet it seems the eagerness to criticise can so easily morph into something destructive and beyond any bit of nuance, especially in smaller communities, and it's so important to keep in my mind when you try to navigate what is "good" and "bad" to engage with.
