I didn't write a horror (not yet, anyway) but there have been instances where some readers have described one of the characters in my suspense-thriller as horrifying.
I created a psychotic assassin within an espionage storyline who was spared the gallows if he agreed to work for a sinister personality. This guy doesn't just kill, he soaks up the moment and dresses up differently for each assignment.
But there are other elements of spookiness or as one reviewer from DoubleShoot Book Reviews described: "Khaled Talib takes his readers on an international voyage that can lead them to nearly looking over their shoulder as they progress through the streets. Yes, the feeling of being followed or spied upon is highly tangible in this book and I shudder to think how I would have felt had I read this while at home alone."
One of my favorite scenes takes place in a church. I would classify this scene as horrifying, but I don't want to spoil it.
