"Special Circumstances": The words have sent chills down Tally's spine since her days as a repellent, rebellious ugly. Back then Specials were a sinister rumor -- frighteningly beautiful, dangerously strong, breathtakingly fast. Ordinary pretties might live their whole lives without meeting a Special. But Tally's never been ordinary.

And now she's been turned into one of them: a superamped fighting machine, engineered to keep the uglies down and the pretties stupid.

The strength, the speed, and the clarity and focus of her thinking feel better than anything Tally can remember. Most of the time. One tiny corner of her heart still remembers something more.

Still, it's easy to tune that out -- until Tally's offered a chance to stamp out the rebels of the New Smoke permanently. It all comes down to one last choice: listen to that tiny, faint heartbeat, or carry out the mission she's programmed to complete. Either way, Tally's world will never be the same.

(view spoiler)[ Tally is actually fighting David? Does she have no proper memories at all now? I feel like being a special has impacted her mind even more. And now they are trying to send Zane the same way they did Tally? I don't think that's such a great idea tbh.
I like Zane even more in this book. He's still fighting for what he wants. And what if Zane doesn't want to become a special? He is gonna get in trouble because of Shay this time (hide spoiler)]

What has She become (view spoiler)[ How can tally be ok with all this? When will she find herself. Since she is always bubbly how can she come back? And Zane, man you have to love him! He is trying to chang everything and I think willing to do anything for Tally. I just wish she was the same. She now views pretties as … well, like uglies. (hide spoiler)]

On the way to where? (view spoiler)[ How can she care so much about Zane but be unable to find herself. Is she afraid of what will happen? Why does she make sure he is safe.... when she finds so much fault with him? And oh damn! Andrew is savage! I knew it! Yaas you go dude! (hide spoiler)]

Diego (view spoiler)[ David has caused some problems! He has been busy-- an entire city that has been unprettied. So many people now see the truth and hopefully things can change. there is finally diversity back to how things were in the days of the Rusties…. tally is a dangerous weapon though, and if she doesn't calm down, …. she will be managed. Shay and the other Cutters have been injected and are finally unpretty themselves. Shay has such much remorse for Tally what she did, but she still thinks that Tally is too self-centered (she is right though). (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Aw shay and tally have to work together, that sucks. Shay is so up and down in this series, she drives me nuts, but the author does a great job of really showing how the brain damage is affecting them through Shay since she does go from one extreme to the next. (hide spoiler)]

There is no way a gas mask would still be functional if it was from centuries ago. Smh. And maybe I missed it, but why does Shay know about all this shit. and poor Tally still can't let some random person die, i do want to know how that place looked after that shit fucked up the building real bad. Zane was so in love with Tally, like she was shitty to him and to others and he loved her anyway and would move mountains for her, i want him back so bad!
