Happy May Day! First off let me start by saying I hope everyone is safe and sane during all of this craziness. Hopefully we're nearing the end of the storm, fingers crossed <3.

One thing I've been seeing recommended lately to get everyone's mind off of COVID-19 and the scary reality we're dealing with is to get immersed in a chunky fantasy book, so this month's selection is perfect! May's pick is The Talisman which was originally published in 1984 and co-written with Peter Straub. The first in a duology, this story follows Jack Sawyer, a boy as he starts a journey across America and ultimately into a different realm in search of a prize to save his dying mother. Along the way he encounters monsters, unspeakable dangers, and many other things that completely flip his world upside down. There was a short film made in 2008 as well as the beginning of a graphic novel series based on the story. Apparently a film has been in the works for decades and the rights are currently owned by Amblin and The Kennedy/Marshall Company, so maybe we'll see something about it in the next few years?

I know I'm not alone in saying that my reading has been a little slumpish lately, but hopefully this gets me back in the groove of things. I'm super stoked to get started with this one, if for anything but to get lost with Jack for a while. Can't wait to hear everyone's opinions! :)

Thanks Ashley! I thankfully had this book up on my Kingathon a year or so ago, so I'm currently around page 200 something. I am eager for Jack to reach his destination. You'll see what I mean when you get to the bar chapter.

Hope everyone is still healthy. Both my boys turn another year older this month. Any suggestions on quarantine birthdays :P They will be 13 and 15 lol.

Yeahhh I might be late starting this one. Totally forgot to reserve it using my library app until last week and now it won't be available for 6 weeks. Ughhh. :P I went ahead and reserved it and next month's book though so maybe I'll just binge lol. And Missy, having 2 teenagers in the house during quarantine...I feel for you girl lol. But Happy Birthday to both of them!

HA! You are not old. I ended up telling each kid that I'll say yes to whatever they want me to play with them. I HATE mariokart. My now 13 year old made me play Mariokart. My soon to be 15 year old is excited to play Minecraft with me for 3 hours...I'm crying inside. LOL.
